The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Amsterdam to Dubai. 15:20 departure, 23:59 arrival time.

As good an airport as Schiphol is, it is definitely not a premium Emirates experience. Check in fine, and security not too long. I skipped the Aspire lounge given poor reviews (it is closed for maintenance anyway). But boarding was a shambles. Tiny gate. There was a dedicated area for premium passengers, but it was completely overwhelmed. Everyone was called to board at the same time. So no benefit in being a F pax here!

Thankfully everything was better when I eventually got to the door. Escorted to my seat and then received all the same boarding benefits.

Another good menu:

Beef consommé. Didn’t get the pic of the lovely FA pouring it unfortunately. But absolutely delicious.

Not on this menu/flight, but have seen the prawn machbous as a J meal. Nevertheless, it is what I felt like eating, and so glad I did. Incredible for an inflight meal. I would normally like a dish such as this with more of a kick, but this had enough flavour from regular spices. At least 10 good sized prawns too.

Then cheese.

Later came the fantastic lobster salad. Followed by affogato:

Was nice but (and I never thought I’d say these words) the Qantas one was better.

Outstanding service. Light load on the A380 cabin (3 pax and 2 dead-heading pilots). Great experience again.

Another excellent transfer experience in Dubai. Met on the bridge and escorted to the lounge. Cut through one reasonably long queue for security which was helpful.

Made a tentative query re the spa but was told I’d need to go up to the business lounge. Didn’t pursue.

Was there at pretty much the same time as on the way out, so saw a number of the same staff who welcomed me back very warmly.

Another day, another excellent BM.

And some fish.

Also had possibly the best seafood risotto I’ve been lucky to sample.

Plenty of delicious seafood, including langoustine.

Lounge quiet and peaceful as usual.

A few data points from EK 404 day flight from SIN to MEL. I was the only one in F. Amenity kit already at the seat, pyjamas proactively offered. Moet only offered on the ground. Paradis and Royal Salute not loaded but everything else was. Staff were fine but no real interaction apart from meal time. , I think it is a bit awkward for them with 2 FA for one passenger. Overall good flight but not incredible. But for a few QF points and $100 or so in taxes it was a steal so happy camper.

Suck it up, Bru! You could be stuck in QFF instead! :)
No Paradis! Demand 100000 points as recompense!

of course the advantage being low numbers, is that you can have one seat for sitting and one made up specifically for sleeping.

Blimey I musta been fortunate knocking down 6 generous servings of Paradis on my last trip back from Stockholm.....

no wonder I slept most the way from Dubai to Melbs

DXB-SIN. A380. 03:30 departure, 15:00 arrival.

Another light load with just 5 seats occupied. 3 of us got an escort to the bridge from the lounge (I assume because we were the last F pax).

DP to start. Usual excellent boarding experience. I declined slippers and PJs so don’t know if tote bag offered. Was offered extra amenity kit so happily accepted.

One of the reasons I ate in the lounge when I really didn’t need to was I had seen the menu in advance and it wasn’t that great.

Of course a flight leaving at 3:30 am should have breakfast, but arrival in Singapore at 3pm makes me thinks some folk (like me) would prefer lunch before arrival. I’m probably being a bit picky!

Focused on the snacks along with getting some sleep.

Asked for caviar then the chicken tikka roll

Came at the same time. Roll was tasty.

Asked for the beef before landing.

Was served the chicken. Profuse apologies when I pointed it out. But it was fine.

Then much to my surprise was escorted off the plane in Singapore. Just to the immigration area, but still nice.

Just ask! One trip they were serving the decent stuff - Paradis Imperial at $3500 a bottle. No pics unfortunately.
Wait.... so if you ask nicely they might give you a half full bottle to take home, if its the end of the flight or no one else was drinking it?!?!
