The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Lucky enough to have some more EK F experiences to report on through current travels. Will try not to be too repetitive this time round and focus more on pics or anything particularly different. So far very consistent with my flights last year as posted above. Booked through QF so no chauffeur drives unfortunately.

SIN-DXB 21:00 departure. A380. Smooth check-in and invited to the EK lounge “shortly” I noted I’d head to the QF F lounge instead. Have posted that experience in relevant thread but of note the check-in agent stopped by about 90 minutes out to deliver me a new boarding pass and advise that because of a fault in 2A I’d been moved to 2K. She could have just told me at the gate but I appreciated her effort to come to the other side of the terminal and let me know. Cabin was less than half full according to EF. I didn’t bother going round to see if 2A was occupied.

Onboard initial impressions of service were underwhelming. After offer of PJs and slippers, nothing. I did use the bathroom which might have thrown things off. After a few minutes waiting FA walked by so I asked for a drink. Normal service resumed at that point. DP13, dates plus Arabic coffee in due course. Top-ups of both. Hot towel. Offer re a shower. Amenity kit already at seat. Menus provided - advised of genuine any time dining. Order for a post takeoff drink and snacks taken as well.

Interestingly the “What to expect onboard” was unavailable for this flight. But ended up being the same menu as the 00:30 flight, which was able to be seen.

Interestingly just a generic reference to the cheese plate - not specifying the actual offering.

Wasn’t the most inspiring menu. But having eaten in the QF lounge and with some hours to kill (and eat) in the DXB F lounge to follow I was happy enough with a relatively simple meal then sleep.

Hennessy Paradis
IMG_5046.jpegAmuse bouche. Prawns were excellent.

Caviar

Very nice.

Salmon was fresh but nothing special.

Prawn machbous was a J meal and not as generous as my experience last year. But still very tasty and what I felt like eating.
IMG_5052.jpeg
Cheese excellent.

The fine chocolates selection has definitely been “enhanced”. Nowhere near as good as before.

Overall a very good experience no question - but quite a bit short of previous ones.

Thanks for posting. I'm flying on EK355 on Sunday as part of my 44 hour MEL-SIN-DXB-FCO F odyssey so that's probably what I'll get on my flight too.

My MEL-SIN-DXB-FCO flight was 227.5K points and $1895.07 in taxes and (extortionate) carrier charges.

Thanks for confirming.
I was considering/complaining about the surchagres for emirates and was wondering if qff points was just as bad or things had changed or there were ways to avoid the carrier charges

I remeber until about 2 years ago you could fly from an asian city to have low carrier charges
But that seems to have closed

I would assume yes. Long layovers in SIN and DXB?

This is the DXB F lounge menu, including specials for Ramadan. I’ll post my dining there later.

Yup - 13 hours in SIN so I plan to pop into town to see the Battlebox (WW2 British HQ) before returning to the QF Flounge.

Then 8 hours of flounging in DXB so intend to go hunting for wine there (as I have so much time to kill, I'll try the lounges in both the A and C concourses; I think the B concourse flounge is being renovated at the moment so not sure how I'll go there).

SIN-MEL is still only $S85 for an F award.

Wine to purchase? The Concourse A lounge has a good duty free section. I looked mainly at spirits (reasonable prices for mid-shelf; ranging to the truly crazy high-end stuff), but had plenty of wine too, if you don’t want to leave the lounge!!

No - to taste. AIUI, they put the remainder of the bottles from F flights into the F lounges, so hoping I'll find a diamond in the rough (or two or three ;)).

Yes, at least a couple of the red options from my SIN-DXB flight were in both of the Concourse A main restaurants IIRC.
