Well back again if only briefly. After four months without work (including weeks spent prepping the house for sale and an overseas vacation) - today I started my new job at [insert company here]! Great on some levels (income is good) but the downside for me (on some levels) is there is zero travel. I will be based at [insert suburb] with occasional trips to the city.

As such I wont be maintaining status but will be a self funded traveller (I wont be chasing status as I have LTG and WP for the next 12 months). Given my lack of recent overseas travel and vanilla travel patterns I don't have that much add to the forums at the moment and don't have that much time either (new job actually involves me working during the day ).

Thanks to all who have helped over the past seven years and I will try to pop in occasionally.

Cheers

S

Good luck with your new job :)
It would be good to see you hanging around here as I for one have learned a tremendous amount from your posts over the years.
Best Wishes
PF

Shame to see you go, I look forward to seeing your posts when you do find the time to comment or (as seems to be the norm) complain about an 'enhancement'. At least you've managed to get to LTG so you're pretty much covered now.

Best wishes for the new job and as one who has been helped by you many times - active travel is not a requirement for AFF! Please pop in and share your knowledge from time to time!

All the best Simon.Hopefully you will still find a need to come back from time to time.I have appreciated your common sense advice.Though doubt I will do to many HLO trips.

Nice to hear from you again. Comments from the bleachers always welcome - good grounding for we DYKWIA types :)

And another good luck on the new job. Must find one soon myself.

Do pop in at least occasionally, we might even amuse you. :)

Good luck with the new job and I imagine you will fly for personal reasons from time to time so we should hear from you on occasions...and thanks for your contributions.

As they say.. Best of luck on your next adventures. Pop in if and when you get a chance

Good Luck Simon.. & thanks for all your worthy contributions.
You can always post on the off topic thread. ;)
Cheers,

Good luck Simon, I hope you enjoy the peace and quiet and ability to decide when you would travel, not when someone else decides.

I have enjoyed you input over the years and hope to some more.

Anyhoo ... cheers!

All the best with the new job. Hope you enjoy the extra time with your family and enjoy more future travel with them.

Thank you for your contributions over my time hear. I am also someone who has learned a lot from you.

I hope we still hear from you around here. (Surely from all the posts so far you must be getting the impression of just how much you will be missed?????)

As a previous traveller you'll still have plenty to contribute.

Good to have a job even if no work travel means you'll have the funds for the pleasure travel.

Cheers

Matt

Thanks all - already planning a J flight to Fiji next year with the family, then there is the trip to the US via tokyo in 2015 for wife's 40th and the motorcycle ride from NY to the San Diego Comic Con for my 50th (in a few years!) to plan ;)

House sold after six days on the market and short sett;ement period of only four weeks - need to find a removalist

Good heavens Simon, you have way more to offer here than many, including me. So the only reason you have for not being here is family time and that dratted work thing. Good to see things are all ok with you.
