So mrsdrron's last week in Tassie. We started the week's evening meals back at BSB.
Mrsdrron had 2 entrees so she could have the coconut creme dessert again. She started with the wonderful mushrooms and then the chicken pasta.

One dish that I really like is octopus and there are a lot of locally caught specimens. but I have always had very chewy octopus dishes here in Tassie so I haven't ordered it very often. However the chefs here have demonstrated that they know how to treat their ingredients so I did order their octopus entree.

Slightly spicy which I like but really tender and I loved it.
For mains I had the slow cooked lamb shoulder and again a very good dish.

PS I did write their not there octopus. Went to edit and it was definitely their and even rewriting that twice it still comes up there. So AFF needs to be sent to the grammar thread. ;)

The next night it was our last meal at Alida. They know us well and remembered I was retiring so complimentary glasses of sparkling rose offered and accepted.

We again shared the ponzu oysters. The ponzu doesn't overpower the oysters.

Mrsdrron had the smoked ocean trout entree as her main whilst I had the miso, maple marinated ocean trout.20220209_183941.jpg.
20220209_183947.jpg.

Both excellent.
Then mrsdrron had the creme caramel and I the sticky date pudding.

On friday we gave the Metz another try. Very popular with the younger people of Launceston. The food is reasonable but it costs roughly the same as BSB,the food isn't as good and the service not comparable to BSB. Tried a different wine tonight. Not many SBs or Pinot Gris/Grigio from Tassie that we haven't tried.

For starters mrsdrron had some panko crumbed mushrooms and I some coated porcinis in a slightly spicy pumpkin sauce.

Mrsdrron then had a crusted beef appetiser whilst I had the main size pork belly on a beetroot coulis and parsnip chips.

We had some cauliflower and broccoli bites and miso marinated mushrooms as sides.

Some spectacular sunrises from this house, but this one was the best IMO. Rons alarm goes off at 6.30am but the traffic noise usually woke me about 5.30 ish. I think the house was built in the 50s /60s, it has had a total makeover on the inside, with a new kitchen, fully ducted AC, and they added a new laundry and a second bathroom. I wish they double glazed the windows facing the road, as the traffic noise was the only complaint I had !!

Quick addition to the thread before drron or RooFlyer beat me to it. Terrific dinner last night with RooF the Tassie local and drron, a now honorary Taswegian, at KOSATEN. It was so great to catch up the RooFlyer again and to finally meet drron. Conversation was so good I'm not sure many more photos of the excellent food were taken

This place is very definitely recommended.

For mrsdrron's last night in Launceston we had our last supper at Me Wah. We weren't very hungry so we shared 4 appetisers.
Scallops with ginger and shallots, Peking duck, char sui and san choi bau.

Certainly the first part of the track is very easy. The only problem for me is it was all downhill meaning I will have to finish with a long trudge uphill.
