No but a walking pole. Wasn't a sharp enough point to catch a trout. o_O
Finally at the first waterfall.

Now they didn't have to put this sign up for me. I had researched the track and knew I couldn't go to the end.

I walked to the top of the first falls but nothing spectacular.

Walking back quite a few more had arrived including 2 couples with 5 kids. The oldest was probably 5 and they were having no problems.

So a little backtrack. On Friday night this vessel appeared off Seaport and has been anchored there ever since. A number of buoys surround it. Apparently planning another go at controlling the silt problem. Last century they dredged the Tamar for 70 years. At the completion silting was exactly the same as at the start of the program.

On Saturday night dinner with a few AFFers. Big Pete, Big Ron and not so bigs Al and @RooFlyer .
No food pics from me but enjoyable. Some Japanese beer and Sake consumed.

The sake went down particularly well.

Sunday and I visited the Duck Reach Power Station. I had set out some time ago from the First Basin but the track was closed. There had been a storm so possibly a tree down or rock slide.
The first views from the road to the car Park.

Now on the suspension bridge. Now I had waited for the couple coming back to cross before I ventured out. but the next couple didn't wait. It got quite wobbly. I took some pictures in the middle.

As I was taking these pictures the wind sprang up and there was now side to side movement as well. I got to the other side as quickly as possible.

In the early days they moved supplies and people across the river on a flying fox.

The 1929 flood was quite destructive.

You can go up a lot of stairs and walk back to the First Basin or over to Trevallyn Dam.

Amazing what they could do in the 19th century. The power station just before the 1929 flood.

The last of Duck Reach.First there are stairs down to river level but rather steep so I did not attempt them.

Now more of the flying fox. Looking back to the car park.

A beer tonight
20220225_173625.jpg

Listed as from Launceston but brewed by one of my favourite breweries Seven Sheds at Railton. I liked it.
To the food. I had 3 entrees. First the mushrooms with pasta. Nice but I preferred the previous mushroom dish.

The sqid. Again nice but the octopus I had previously was better.
Last the quail. Fantastic. 20220225_181847.jpg.

Now I thought this report was finished but my trip home has turned into a saga, So here we go.
On Friday I realised the second bag I had bought was a little small for what I had accumulated in 6 months. Now mrsdrron had left a couple of pretty strong looking shoe bags. So I packed the excess into one. the only problem until I checked in was that I had to fork out for a trolley to get from the car to check in.

Arrived at the terminal 4 minutes before check in opened so not a long wait. However on ditching the trolley and picking up the shoe bag the material around one of the handles began to tear. Meant a longer trip through security.
The major problem though was cradling that bag in one arm with a carry on in the other arm whilst climbing the stairs to the plane.Glad to be finally seated.

ETD -1015. Push back - 1020. Take off - 1025.
ETA 1120 Landed 1120. At gate - 1123.
Now it seems that AJ is having arguments with BA again. I was travelling on my BA gold number.I had checked in on Friday and selected 5A. but at checkin I was demoted to 8D. Now the 2 ~ 15 year olds who were in 5A,C were just in front of me when boarding I noted row 5 on their BPs and that they had no FF number entered.

Fortunately in MEL we had an air bridge. However when I took my phone of flight mode there was a message from mrsdrron that the Bruce highway was likely to close.
So feeling a little down as I proceeded to the lounge. As I entered one of the staff took pity on me and said she would find me a new bag. She could only find a large black garbage bag. But it was much easier to carry.

Mmm, I’ve been wondering if the current SEQ weather might be impacting you and yours with the highway closure and the Mary River flooding, hope all is ok

So into he J lounge. Not at all busy even though the QP was closed. So read my book for a little while and then to the Spice bar where first I had the chicken, miso, noodle soup. A little bland.Could have done with some extra chilli.
