There was virtually nothing at all!! The were two or three different types of bread, and a few things such as salami, cheese, olives etc..That was virtually it!! I had to fill up on liquid to get my moneys worth ....

So not much different to QC.

Would you rather the Canberra QC on a Friday evening? I'll take 3 people over 300 any day! The 4 of you should have have played billiards for beer!!!

To me, it was definately not worth the $30. If they had more food, it may have been worth it, but value for money was poor to say the least.
The only plus side was the friendly guys in The Lounge.
I was in the MEL lounge on Thursday last week and have been there a few times before that. On each occasion I have found the following:

There are usually at least 8-10 different condiments in the servery that can be put on different types of bread or 4-6 types of crackers. There are also a few types of fruit, and between 6-8 other "nibbly" items that the attendant can serve, e.g. kettle chips, soy thingies, mixed nuts, etc. I think there are 3 different white wines (Sauv Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay, and 2 different reds (Pedfolds Thomas Hyland Shiraz and Wynns Black Label Blend). I haven't yet counted the types of beer available. There is also juice, water and soft drinks.

At breakfast there are a variety of breads to be toasted, cereals, yoghurt and possibly muffins (can't remember). I haven't been there at lunch or dinner time so I am not aware if they put out any extra food as they do in the QP, although my experience in the QP is that this food is limited and disappears within minutes, so you have to be quick.

I guess the value proposition is a personal thing. If you pay $30 for casual entry and are looking for a big meal, then it might not be worth it. I just want some decent food and beverage refreshments, a comfortable place to sit while I work and free broadband. For me it is worth it, but YMMV.

Thanks for the photos DJ737. They are fantastic.

I sat in that lounge in Melbourne, was comfy, but was so hard to get out of!!

?allow QC, QF Gold, Platinum and CL members to use Virgin lounge if travelling on DJ

I was just wondering whether Virgin would consider allowing QC, QF Gold, Platinum and CL members to use their airport lounge for free if they were travellling on a DJ flight. The extra cost (of lounge visit) can't be that much, and it may mean pinching some of OFs more frequent flyers (and more valuable), and encouraging them to fly DJ :idea:

, what do you think??

Hi KPC, let's just say that it's something we have considered and may or may not do - don't want to give anything away.

Hi there

On the surface allowing QF FF's access to the lounge for free might sound like a good idea, Those that have paid for lounge membership will be pretty peeved i would think  . Maybe charge all casual visitors $10 or $15 for a limited period and give them a discount if they decide to join.

Cheers

There's a suitably vague answer. As a QF WP, I would certainly try out the lounge (not that there is one in Perth) if I were travelling on a DJ flight (and given current travel policy - this becomes likelier all the time)

Complimentary entry to the DJ lounge for a QFF with QF lounge access on their first DJ flight! That sounds like a good idea.

The main issue would be in tracking this to make sure people didn't start getting multiple entries, but there are ways of achieving this.

Even better - they should have an 'open week' where any QF club or QFF member can visit the DJ club lounge EVEN if they are flying QF/JQ. This opens it up to people who wouldn't fly DJ if their lives depended on it (alot of business travellers who Virgin are trying desperately to pinch). And imagine how annoyed QF would get!

A friend who is forced to fly DJ now and then (because of a BFOD policy) says the Lounges are pretty empty, so they wouldn't have to worry about annoying current customers.

Hi all,

thanks for the input - a link to this thread is with our product development team.

Nice idea, but in which airports/terminals would the DJ lounge be close to QF gates?

There's 1000 creative ways to get ppl to check it out, from signage at security check - to giving away a free flight an hour to get people to stick their heads in and check it out. Even I would go and have a look if that was the case! (I'd donate the flight to a charity if I won :D )

Maybe closer than gate 12 at Melbourne from QP !!. That is a walk and a half.

That's not that bad. There are far further gates at other airports, LHR for example has some doozy walks.
