The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

I have seen Saver availability (1 only) on the 777 overnight flight Mel - Sin. I can't remember which day of the week it was.

Having done this flight before, I don't know if it is worth it over business class (compared to other SQ F experiences).
I suppose it boils down to what you value. If you're in it for the food and/or you don't mind the business class bed and bedding, then no, an overnight flight on the 777 is probably not worth it in first class.

On the other hand, the lounges are nicer and quieter, the bed is wider, plusher and (I find) easier to sleep on, you get a bit more privacy, and at worst you'll be sharing the toilet with one other person. When you reach a certain age these things matter....!

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this.
I've checked SQ's website for a particular flight that I'd like to redeem points for (I'll convert Velocity to KrisFlyer for it): it only has a 90-minute layover in SIN (both SQ flights (one on an A380)) - is this too short to feel secure enough to catch the second flight? (The flight is only available at an Advantage J fare (not Saver).)
As my bags should be checked all the way through, and it would be all on the one ticket, and I shouldn't have to clear customs - it might be OK but thought that I'd check and get others' experience with anything similar prior to purchasing.

Yeah you should be fine. Normally it’ll take about 30 mins to go from T3 to T2 and clear security. I’ve also got a flight booked that has a 2 hour layover which is plenty of time.

We had a connecting flight last year - PER - SIN - BANG on a linked advantage award. The Singapore connection was scheduled as 1 hour which concerned me. However PER to SIN arrived 30 minutes early and it became a very relaxed connection. Probably depends on where your final destination is as to what part of the airport you transit.

I fly SQ pretty frequently to Europe and from my experience with tight connections in SIN misconnecting is very rare, partly because Changi is such an easy and quick airport to navigate but having security at the gates means you’re not bottlenecked with other passengers from a myriad of other flights in centralised security queues. Also, as long as you’re in the security queue at your gate - even when it’s ‘last call’ and you’re at the end of the line - you’ll make your flight.

But i’ve noticed since COVID that baggage handling can be a bit hit and miss on shorter connections and delayed baggage is not uncommon in these instances.

That's great to read, @nightelves. Thanks for the confirmation.

That's slightly less good. If this does happen, I take it that my luggage would be returned on the next flight (which might be quite a number of hours later). Hopefully, I won't need to go back to the airport to claim it and it will be delivered to my address (I had this happen with delayed VA luggage once).

I attempted to transfer my Velocity points to KrisFlyer miles but nothing happened. The confirmation screen appeared - I entered the 2FA code and then no transfer occurred. The Velocity account still shows the same amount as before and they are yet to be transferred to my KrisFlyer account.

I've transferred like this previously (pre-2FA) and it went across almost straight away.

I'm worried to try again as I don't want to transfers going across.

Has this happened to anyone before?

Can't you just make the booking via the VA web site using VA points? I am doing that from Singapore to Melbourne is December.

OK. Just try to make use of the better transfer rate.
If the option were available on the VA 'site, that would be my preference as not as many points required. Paying more points on the SQ 'site isn't ideal but is better than nothing (I'll give Velocity a call (when they open) to find out what's going on)).
