When I joined this site so many years ago, it was because of the Wizard (now 28 degrees) MasterCard. This card has been invaluable to me.

Same here, now the Citibank Plus account. Also HHonors Gold for the free upgrade, internet and breakfast.
I have gained so much even though I don't fly much.

I have learnt so much so far about how to get the most out of travel JASA, DSC, upgrades and more - have loads more to learn (and hopefully offer to new aff's)

Just one subject intrigues after reading this; paying the ATO with c/c... Can someone please link me to more info? What cc to use / or not! And do the guys paying this way pay the surcharges from the ATO or are there other suggestions or tips out there? As always any info would be reallyappreciated

Thanks
M

The 28 Degrees Mastercard is/was a fantastic tip and one that's been used heavily by the misses and I.

The status run stuff has also been top notch and with luck, I'll be hitting WP for the first time in a week or two. :)

Flying me and my girl on a points J fare MEL-LAX on the 380 and enjoying every second thanks to knowing when to find 2 U fares together!

Learning invaluable tips from travelers who've done it all before rates highly as well

how do you do that ??

Many many things from AFF have enriched my travels and enhanced my business.
Possibly the best is the people I either get to meet or learn from!
That's it for me, too.

It's not the points, it's the people.

Yes the people you meet are completely away from our business life so I enjoy the social stuff.
It has helped us in cities where we have low or no experience and I do try to reciprocate.

YUPP's, payments to ATO, but most entertaining info is gleaned from the fantastic trip reports members take time to write about great places which at my age will most likely not visit.

I find it hard to find threads on the iPhone app but there's a few on it. Serfty has mentioned it a few times, depending on DST or not it's about 353 days out at 10am is when the seats get released and a few days a week there's 2 U together leaving SYD or MEL on the 380.

There may or may not be more than one seat release, but the likest tim ei is indeed 353 days out.

It is at Midnight UTC (previously GMT) which is always 10am in BNE, 8am in PER and for MEL/SYD/CBR it depends upon daylight savings - 10am in winter and 11am in summer.

How to take the best advantage of targeted offers from Everyday Rewards and Flybuys. How to manipulate the system in order to receive more targeted offers. I have more bonus points than base points in both programs.

JASAs for me, definitely... United redemptions and T-80 are other big one as are all the great insights from the "Ask the Pilot" thread. Jb's comments alone are worth reading this forum and an awesome way to spend boring hours at the office. For me, that's as important as the actual information you find on here- all the little things that are just fun to read and to kill some time: Show me the latest Flounge menu or pictures of J and F meals anytime, no better way to forget about that awful canteen food at work
