Any Platinums still getting op-ups?

I had the false op-up tease yesterday afternoon. Had done OLCI the day before for QF539 BNE-SYD, and selected my usual 23A for the B763.

Got to the gate and got the welcomed red lights and beep - I thought I'd hit the jackpot and snagged 2 op-ups in 2 weeks on that sector, but sadly it was only because of a config change - changed from 23A (now non-existant) to 25A.

2 - 3 domestic trips per month (MEL-PER, MEL-SYD/BNE/CBR) - nil op-ups in 18 months (when flying Y). Of the 18 months, 6 months at WP and 12 months at SG.
Not looking good this year at all.

My SYD-PER flight tonight is absolutely chokers. I do not believe there are any seats avaiable. This is the sort of flight I would expect an op-up but quite happy to sit in economy. We there any op-ups? Not me....

Chance of Upgrade Mel to LAX?

Hi Guys

FLying June 29th MEL -LAX and then LAX-MEL on either 16th, 17th or 18th July on Qantas.

I am Silver QFF, and Qantas Club member. I am going to be on a paid Prem Econ Fare return however would like to try out the full flat sky bed at least one of the legs. I have over 100,000 points so can afford the 45k upgrade fee to Business. But just curious about what the chances of this are? Any one had experiences? I know its like a lottery however someone told me as the A380 is so big it usually easier to get an upgrade? I didnt think this sounded right, sure its a bigger plane, but doesnt mean its going to be flying empty on a popular route like this?

Any thoughts?

Too early mate.

Lodge your UG request three months out and we will look at that say two week out.

Does this bode well for an op-up?
My 767 flight departs in the next five or so hours. After booking (about 10 days ago) I chose seat 25F (yes, I've now resigned myself to the fact that one must choose their seat if one wants anything to come of their Platinum status in this regard). About two hours ago I checked EF and it no longer showed a row 25, leading me to believe QF has subbed in a different 767, one without a row 25. When I go to choose my seat in my QF bookings it still shows me as 25F (in the booking) but fails to produce a seat map. Additionally, EF is showing J5 and zeros in all other buckets.

2-3 times a week on domestic Y for the last 3 months (SYD, CBR, MEL, ADL, BNE, DRW), no op-up. Used points for award upgrades on DRW-SYD and PER- SYD.

The only op-up I ever got was SYD - MEL on the 1st flight I took after I made WP. I thought WP was great, but it certainly turned out not be a sign of things to come!

Danger, did you get op-up'd on this flight?

No, darn it. When I checked in for the first sector (the second sector (on the same PNR) was the one where I thought I might get an op-up) I was given a boarding pass for 26F - they'd simply moved me one row back. Interestingly, however, even an hour or so after having checked-in, the booking in my QFF account was still showing me in 25F so I suspect the reason I couldn't see the seat map and the reason it was still showing me in a seat that didn't exist was due to a system glitch. In the end, though, I did have an empty seat next to me which, from EF, was probably one of only about six or so on the whole 767 flight.

I selected seats in row 47 on-line for a SYD-BKK flight departing yesterdayy. Around 20 hours before the flight seats in row 40 opened up so I immediiately changed them as Seatguru shows these bulkhead seats to have a cut-out for your feet.

On checking in at CBR our seats had changed and one was in 40C and the other 47H! CBR could not change the selection and advised us to check again at SYD.

At the SYD lounge I left it with the staff on the desk who apologised and said they would do what they could but the flight was overbooked and they were not too positive.

When the flight was called I collected our boarding passes and we had been upgrraded to Y+:D

My hard earned SG seems to have paid off.

Second ever upgrade as WP, ADL - SYD 12.15 on 17 April, Y - J on a 738. I logged in at about 7.30 am to OLCI and my booking was showing status as "checked in" and seat as 2C.:D

QF popped my cherry last night.
BNE-SYD. QF551. Red eDeal. First row of Y (767, row 23) to J

On-line activity statement has this.
Code:
QF 551 ECONOMY/BUSINESS 25APR11 BRISBANE/SYDNEY UPGRADE REF xx_XX
I had just sat down when l got a tap on the shoulder. "Excuse me sir, could follow me?". I was a little bit confused, but she said, "l have a seat further forward". I didn't argue. :)

The Qantas Operational Upgrade Thread

Not me but my girlfriend got upgraded on Saturday afternoon.

Was on a points redemption made by her father (gold) and was asked to
move up business just after the flight took off.

The csm made mention that she is a qff... She isn't just uses her fathers points : D

I am flying back from LAX soon on the A380 and I noticed every PE seat is sold so with some luck they may need to move some of us forward.

I googled for this but I couldn't find the answer. If I am allocated (or choose) an exit row seat does this effectively rule me out of the op-up pool? Seems like once a QF staffer confirmed that I am suitable for an exit row seat that upgrading me for operational reasons may be difficult?

Interesting... I'm flying QF CBR-MEL this Fri (booked ages ago) and recently booked my sister (non-QFF) onto the same flight using my points. To my surprise, she has almost the same seat selection options as me. Just selected 4A & 4C on 748 . The only difference between our seat selections is that I can select 4B on my booking whereas it is greyed out for my sister's. I guess QF must link status of the QFFer with the redemption bookings made for families (if that makes sense).

Yes I think so too. When I booked an SFO-SYD flight last year for the OH using my points, he (a NB at the time) was automatically allocated one of those PE seats with Y service, which were normally available for WPs only.
