The Planespotting/General AV Geek Thread

Alright here goes some of my shots from here in Melbourne, enjoy!

This was the first 777 to be repainted in the new Air NZ livery and I caught it on it's first flight to Perth overflying my place in Melbourne.

Mendoowoorrji was certainly a nice surprise!

There has been talk of an AFF spotting event, any body keen?

Who here has been to the Boeing factory or other aviation museums etc in the lotfap?
I have been to the Boeing factory in Seattle, and the Paris Aerospace museum. The only time I have been in a Concorde.

An Inter Island 717 on my last trip to Hawaii, B787-9 doing high temp and brake testing at ASP airport and my chariot to AKL a few weeks back and the last departure Virgin Atlantic from Sydney to Hong Kong about 3 weeks ago. For any one interested the first tenants of the aircraft bone yard adjacent to ASP airport are due to take up residence in a weeks time. wonder if this might open the flood gates a little.

That's some interesting gossip! How close will you be able to get to the residents, and can you reveal who they'll be? :p

I can't say at the moment who they are, but none of the majors at this stage. The storage area is about mid runway immediately opposite the terminal area so you should get a view from the apron. Or if you know the right people the view is even better ;)

Posted this one some time last year when I saw her but because this is a geek thread, I can post it again.

Here she is, AA 738 in retro AstroJet livery on a very rainy day in DFW as I was passing by in another plane:

Sweet shots, really should've jumped on the chance when they were flying the Domestic routes..

Might have to pick up a flight on the 787-9 when it comes to Melbourne for the LAX route.. ;)

Air New Zealand's 787-9 will be flying its first proving flight to SYD from AKL on July 25 if any one is interested. Late afternoon arrival but don't know the exact timings at this stage but will post when known.

Forgot about that one Meggsy, might have to look into that!

Are you going to head down either in a professional or private capacity?

9 RAAF Hawks paid a visit to OOL for a refuel at lunchtime today. They are on their way to TSV for "High Sierra", an exercise that will see the normally quiet RAAF TSV come alive not only with the hawks but F18s, P3s and P9s etc. With the many of the normal NTL residents absent, the Super Hornets from AMB have gone to NTL for another exercise.
