The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Hi SYD, thanks for your reply. I was using the earning tables. Just had a look at the earn calculator and am now reassured! Thanks again.

My other half recently changed an upcoming flight (a revenue one) to an earlier date - no new e-ticket number was issued from Qantas but I've checked the RJ portal and the date has changed to the desired date / the e-ticket number is the same as the original booking - I'm assuming that it's all good? Thankyou.
We changed date on a QF award Dom flight recently and the mmb "send itinerary" feature still sends with the wrong date, despite it showing correct everywhere else. Spoke to call centre and they sent one of the text email tickets which has the correct flight dates, though NVB/NVA are the old date which still concerns me. Don't think I'll be completely comfortable until I'm on the flight.

Flying out in business class for the 2nd time at SYD in November. I haven't heard any news yet of them beginning works to refurbish the Sydney lounge? Any idea how they'll organise it for passengers with that lounge access?

Not sure there has been any update on this since November or so last year. Far as I'm aware, nothing has happened yet and there's no news of an updated schedule. But no doubt others on here are more informed and can correct me if I'm wide of the mark.

Nothing as of yet.

If they do start, because of the lounge size i expect them to just close off sections at a time while they work on it.

I have a one-way Dom Economy Flex booking that I wish to change to an International return booking with a completely different origin/destination. Am I correct in understanding that this can only be done via the call centre?

As a follow-up, is there any reason that I couldn't effectively turn this into a multi-city booking by adding on more legs to the same booking (i.e. thus adding on additional legs to the same PNR)?

Had family travel on China eastern.
Was Aus to China. Was not a code shared flight. MU metal
QF club member plus other LTG members refused lounge entry in melb. Was quite a scene I'm told. Rules are rules, but family member called the QF hotline day before to confirm lounge entry among other things and was confirmed.

We assumed One World worked simple lounge entry to eligible no doubt, not to be.
Really baffled, reading T&Cs.

Why baffled ? MU are not a One World airline.

It was China eastern flight and metal.
They are part of one world, just seems not code shared on every flight.
There's been emails back n forth.
I and my family understand rules are rules no sweat, just been told different stories.
Personally I not all over the tncs but like few of us thought Oneworld partners accesses.

Note we / I did assume the dragons were correct, just wanted to know why how and where in the rules tncs this was stated. That's all. Was lot of displeasure.
Thanks always richmel.

They are not and have never been part of One World.
They are Sky Team.

They have an airline partnership with QF but this is nothing to do with One World.
Your family were correctly refused access to the lounge.
It’s regrettable but not surprising that the call centre gave them incorrect information.

Ok we were mislead by the website. Our error we understand now. onus applies to the pax.
We have only issue that this was misrepresented, by only contact with QF by phone. Others in same boat.

Anyway we accept rules as always.

Very much appreciate your info PFiona.
Was a tripadeal offer where family had super experience, which is what really counts.

Thanks.

Sorry @MooTime , but I do not find the website misleading. Now yes, one has to go to the lounge access section and read QF flight number to be eligible for access to QF lounges in Oz (MU within China is different again - noting QC members do nit get access there) but for once it is pretty clear regarding this, and not really open to misinterpretation imo(unlike some QF material).

Anyway, lesson learned.

These individual partnerships (SB is another example, or AF/KL) can be tricky and what the flight us sold as can make all the difference.

Thankyou. Yes researching myself I agree. I'm now actually surprised there were so many QF members status & QC members that were upset at being rejected. They were all on same tripadeal tour.

I'll put it to them but I'm assuming they saw China eastern was on Qantas website and they assumed far to much.

Certainly understandable to make assumptions like this. I pit things like EK flight numbers don't earn SC's in the same category tbh. QF have a very large and well known partnership with Emirates (far bigger than MU) and that is an important wrinkle that has caught many I bet.

As usual, marketing can create impressions that don't align to the finer print.

Another example is what AFF jokers refer to as "Simpler and fairer" (being QFs spin at the time) resulting in ubequal earn rates on parters compared to QF - clearly not being either simpler or fairer.

Hmm I've got an MU flight later this year to PVG from MEL in business - wonder which lounge I'll be eligible to access. 🤔

I assume I won't have access to the Qantas International Business lounge.
I do believe pax in J get access to the QF J Dungeon er lounge via CoS in MEL.

In SYD it would be the SkyTeam lounge.

Of course check in staff should direct you appropriately.
