The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Hello everyone, noob question here. If I like to know the tail number/rego of the aircraft that I will be on - how do I go about finding this information?

I did some search in AFF and found a few posts that talk about "tail number". I ACK that it is up to the airlines to release the tail number to websites like FR24, and this information is potentially released to FR24, say a day before or the day of travel.

My question is more trying to find the rego in advance - say 1 week out. I was wondering if this could be possible via EF or would the TA be able to see it in their booking systems?

Any ideas/thoughts/advise please?
You won't be able to find the registration detail that far out (at least not publicly?). Maybe a few hours out, but not days. Just by way of example, looking at FR24 right now I can see that for QF1 & QF11 that they still haven't added the aircraft registrations for today's flights, and both of them are scheduled to leave in 5-6 hours from now. EF shows the equipment type loaded by the operating airline to the GDS, but I don't believe the registration is shown anywhere there.

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks Matt. I thought so as well, that rego details won't be available publicly. Just was curious to know.

Not sure where to ask this question.

My son flew Sydney to Adelaide this afternoon, connecting to a flight to Port Lincoln to do a shark dive tomorrow.
On arrival they found out Qantas canceled the port Lincoln leg. Everyone tried to get on the Rex flight but they missed getting a seat.

My son asked for a refund for the Port Lincoln flights and Qantas then canceled his Adelaide flight home to Sydney on Monday.
So now he has no flight home.

Just wondering how we navigate this problem

Now he is trying to find accommodation in Adelaide and phone Qantas ( no status)

Was this booked through an agent or direct with QF? Anyway, I guess that he has made contact with the Call Centre by now? Most likely that the return booking can be resurrected, if it was a Call Centre error.

What’s everyone else in that group doing? I guess that they are working through their options, so that may be of some help to him.

This wasn’t a package shark dive tour was it, including flights ADL-PLO-ADL, dive, accommodation, etc?

Finally got through but then got cut off.

Has been waiting on the phone to speak I someone again. Phone battery has just about run out and still waiting to get through.
Nothing sorted yet and no accommodation yet.

He booked the flights himself online through Qantas

There’s a hotel at Adelaide airport by the way (the Atura, maybe $289), a 2-minute walk. With some charge in the phone he can contact the call Centre anytime tonight. Any issues, HUACA.

By the way, something similar happened to me when Manila mistakenly cancelled my entire itinerary when all I wanted was to change one flight. At the time I didn’t realise that the bookings were still there, just not showing in MMB, but QF could see the ‘cancelled’ flights at their end and were able to re-instate all of them.

Maybe sort out refunds, etc, later as a separate discussion. The priority is probably re-instating flights.

Anyway, he may have most of it sorted by now.
