I've found JL earn rates super inconsistent. I couldnt for the life of me figure out why my partner's HND - ITM flight earned 10 SC but her ITM - NRT - MEL (ITM - NRT) part earnt nothing despite it both being the same M Booking class and bought as part of an international itinery. One was autoatically credited and the other had was knocked back at Missing points claim.

Was quite annoying as well, had to get her to take a quick extra SYD <> MEL satutus run as she was 10 SC short.

Anyone know how early one can drop off bags at Melbourne Domestic?

I'm landing in MEL (from Intl') at 7:45am and depart (to SYD) at 8:00pm, same ticket. Can I drop my checked bag off at the domestic terminal before heading into the city for the day?

Question on status earn.

Looking at the the QANTAS earn calculator - does it relate to the marketed flight number or the metal? (or potentially either)

Looking at a booking on Qantas metal by marketed my Latam - would that earn QF status points?

I know Latam metal and LA code doesn't. I believe Latam metal and QF code does - just unsure on the reverse?

QF code earns as per Calc. LA code only earns points now?

It's almost 100% based on the marketing carrier & flight number (regardless of metal), and assuming there is an option for either, then you can choose from the drop down, a la:

Question in relation to booking multi-city please.
I cannot see the SC earn, am I not looking in the correct place?
Any tips appreciated.

There used to be a way to build up a multi-city itinerary in the QFF earn calculator, but that's now gone. Closest you can get is a return. You'll need to do it segment-by-segment, I'm afraid

The multi city tool doesn't show it unfortunately. you'll have to add up the individual sectors yourself.

Useful functionality that was enhanced away….🤷‍♂️
Yes - quite odd. I wonder if they had too many complaints or claims for missing points & SCs. The detail is all there; though. They just need to allow it to stack searches and put a tally at the end!

"Simpler and Fairer"

I too recall that functionality. I am sure it was still there not too long ago as I'm sure I used it within the last six months (but the way my memory has been lately it was probably 2019 lol)

Not too long, but definitely longer than 6 months... maybe 12-18 months?

Yep - thought that might be the case unfortunately. Just a pity I can get a qantas flight materially cheaper through a different carrier.
Cost vs status - it's the eternal struggle; or at least until you start hitting LT status

QF does not use Status "Points".
Air NZ does.
For QF/QFF, its QFF points and QFF Status Credits, for flying QF or a OW partner.
===
Since LATAM left OW, you needs to book it under the QF code, to earn QFF SC, on LATAM metal.
Prior to them (LATAM) leaving OW, you could earn QFF SC on the LA flight number too.
But now, as shown above, its 0 QFF SC if booked under the LATAM flight number.

Appreciate the correction.

The query was collecting QF Status Credits on Qantas metal but LA flight number
