I have just returned from London on Malaysian, my flight from Sydney was with Qatar (Aug 28).
I had entered my QFF # on both bookings but Qantas won't give points from those flights. I paid cash.
Is it because I didn't book through Qantas app?
Thanks

No, that wouldn't be why.

What do you mean Qantas won't give points from those flights? Did they post as 0 in your statement, or did they not post at all?

The likely reason is either an issue in the Qantas/Qatar system causing it to not credit correctly, or you were booked into a fare class that does not earn on QFF. If you have your original e-tickets, could you check what fare class you were booked in? It should be a single letter (e.g. E, Y) for each leg. We can then check if it's eligible to earn on QFF.

Thank you. I didn’t realise that there was a certain fare class to earn points. Both flights were S class. I guess more research is required next time I book. 🥴

Unfortunately, looks like S class economy doesn’t earn pts or status credits. Scroll down to Qatar…

Thank you so much.

And welcome to AFF @DinkyDi007
Thank you 😊

On a QANTAS ticket, where does the relevant letter appear?

I’ve got a QATAR ticket and it’s got a letter in brackets after Business. But not on a QANTAS ticket.

You have to use Qantas Manage my Booking (or CheckMyTrip) unfortunately. I'm unsure how to do it retroactively.

classic flight rewards are these redeemable direct on the QF website when booking flights. or are these available via a specific web site.

I thought there was a specific web site on the QF website where you were able to redeem classic award seats (think that's the term). But now it looks like these award seats can be claimed just when booking a flight by electing to use points. Is that all there is to it.

And also apart from classic award seats are there any other type of award seats. I thought there were several categories of award seats that required different points to access.

Yeah, I get points and pay. Straightforward. But in accessing your points is there something else called classic award seats. As a newbie trying to understand the different ways of accessing points.

They merged the revenue and points booking a while back. For simple bookings on QF flights (and some airline partner) just use the normal search and it will show you what days/flights have classic reward seats as well as the price to pay (you can mix and match that way if that helps eg SYD-MEL return, you might see a reasonable paid fare down and a classic rewards seat home etc.

If you want to search just rewards seats, select ”Rewards only” to just show the classic reward seat options. That should hide the silly “Any seat rewards” for 100s of ‘000s pts.

If looking for more complex trips and partner awards eg using American Airlines etc. The “Multi-city” tool will give more results than the simple search (you can still search A -> B (one-way/return) or A -> B -> C etc. Make sure you select “Use points - Classic flight rewards only”.

Hi
Can someone clarify if you purchase a rewards seat using Qantas FF points but on a Qatar flight can use use Qantas lounge invitations?
