The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Not sure on that; best would be for her to ask the crew in the F cabin on the day. A visit might be ok; joining her for a meal or anything else is not likely
Honestly, there are so many factors that go into this that the only answer is you have to ask the purser on the day and see what they say.

If it's a full F cabin, there's less likelihood of it. If it's a quiet day they might allow a bit more.

Quiet day or not, I’ll retain the view it is unlikely they’ll be open to catering for an additional, ineligible pax in F… 🙂 I guess crazier things have happened though!

If its a quiet day what they could do is take the J meal and serve it with the partner in F since you can dine together in F.

Not sure on how realistic that is, but no harm in asking from the F Pax.

Hey All. Currently WP with Qantas.
I just booked some business (D) flights on Qatar (first time flying with them).
I registered and added a promo code for some added bonuses, before realising they are a OneWorld airline. Then thought I should collect QFF points / status rather than anything with Qatar, as I am not sure how much I will fly with them.
I went looking on the website and the app, but cant find out how to add my QFF info to the bookings.
Is it possible to collect QFF status and points for these flights booked on the Qatar website?
How do you add QFF membership info. adn how do you add One World info as it is reporting as the lowest tier.
Thanks
XD

Do you now have a Qatar QR frequent flyer account? The registration and added a promo code may only be for QR ff members.
If you have a QR ff number getting it 100% removed and then add another freq flyer number can be problematic. QR ffn's are sticky. Will be a way to add a QF ffn. May take a phone call (good luck!!!)
Qatar QR are a freq flyer partner of VA Virgin Australia, UA and others

As QR are a (not that friendly) partner of QF can earn SC & ff points subject to t&c's. Check *carefully*.
QF link--> https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...ables/earn-category-tables.html#qatar-airways

QR use avios as the frequent flyer currency. As do BA, IB, IE & AY. Subject to the rules avios, but not status, can be moved between these ffp's.
BA & QR have a closer relationship.
With more airlines using avios, ff programs that use avios have became more popular. Even for people living in AU.

Anyone had experience when a route gets axed?

I had a classic reward booking SYD to ICN for May. There was an announcement that the route will be cancelled on June 15 however it has been brought forward to May 6.

They are only rebooking me to the following day with Jetstar business, and refund me the points difference needed to book the route (82000 - 61500). I also have a hotel booked that evening.

I am a lowly bronze. I've rang twice asking if they could change my route to Tokyo instead on QF metal, and I can make my own way to Seoul but they insisted that since there are no classic reward availability, my only option is to take the JQ flight the next day, or a refund.

Is this the best outcome I can reasonably get in this situation? I even asked (nicely) if they would release CR seats for the HND flight but no luck. Also no CR availability to TPE or HKG.

Here’s the Qantas cancellation policy.

Strictly speaking a refund is the minimum requirement. But it’s a low bar.

Asking for a QF operated service to elsewhere in Asia, with a connection is reasonable IMO, but you’re dealing with a business that’s not known for putting customers first.

If you do take the JQ flight, compare the fees and carrier charges. They’re often higher with Qantas, so make sure they refund the difference.

When we were downgraded from J on QF to JQ and also involuntarily rerouted returning from DPS it took more than 100 days to get the difference in fees and carrier charges refunded.

It's quite disappointing as obviously Jetstar is a totally different product to QF business. Seems like they won't release availability or rebook me via another country if there is no CR availability. Good point regarding the carrier fees. I'll keep an eye out on that.
