I am quite sure you would not be disappointed...I will be interested to check out this lounge in a few weeks... (third time lucky?)
Maybe I'm becoming a lounge snob.... But nothing really grabbed me by the balls to say this was necessarily deserving of the hype.....
- refurbishment compared to previous 2-lounges is good. Decor and ambience is improved. (I notice the old QF F lounge is now the BA lounge).
- nice to see the new dining area (between bar and shower area) is much more functional than it used to be.
- bar area is nice if you want to be a bar-fly
- 2 minor cook-to-order dishes (laksa an steak I think when I was there) is ok, but seems to me to be a minor attempt..... Almost like "island dining" in the Dom J lounges.....
- buffet actually didn't impress me that much - and I'm not a fussy eater. It looked nice from a distance though.
- desert range was quite nice and impressive.
I don't want to sound like I'm knocking the lounge, and it's definitely an improvement on its former self and also better than perhaps other J lounges...... But I just don't feel it in any way matches the hype that it's been given.
A comparison with the Wing is a good comparison IMHO.
An improvement on the cook-to-order list would give it a much higher score in my view.

Doesn't that imply a very high standard? I haven't been to the Wing lately or the new SIN lounge (1 week to both!), but I'm imagining the refurbished Wing, being CX's flagship lounge, is still pretty swish .
I'm not contesting your assessment - just that if its comparable to the Wing, while being a QP (albeit souped-up, but not a Flounge) it must be reasonably hype-worthy
Am doing a lounge crawl next week - YVR, HKG, KUL then SIN - might write a comparative report, but sobriety might be an issue ....

As I said - perhaps I'm just a lounge snob nowadays.

This would have to be the BEST lounge I have ever been in - a Qantas lounge wow - so impressed. The food is amazing, the service wonderful, the drinks phenomenal - they have coughtails! I chose the 'Monkey' - a signature coughtail with a Vodka base. And Verve is flowing people! I sample the buffet, and order both the A La Carte options - 'Hot and Fragrant Prawn Stir fry' and ' minute Steak with Cafe de Paris Butter and Steamed beans' - lord I am full and I haven't even sampled the desserts yet!!
Question - is this the 1st Class Lounge? Is Chairman's Club attached?
I think you'll find the ball is in BA's court on this one .... but I wish BA would agree to it!What would be amazing is the ability to book travel to LHR through SIN on QF/BA. This lounge would be an amazing place to stop over on QF5 to QF3345 (if it still existed)!

It is not the lounge opening time that will be a worry for you.I'm flying into Singapore at 3pm and flying out 7am next day on Jetstar.
I don't think the lounge opens till the afternoon. Is there anywhere else i can go with qantas club?
I've been twice in the last week or so - after QF5 and before QF6. Great service, lots of room and I like having a stand up area at which to eat. In terms of cooked to order service I had the minute steak, fish and wagyu beef with baby eggplant (served on different occasions). All were excellent, portions are 'taster' size though. I loved the roast pumpkin, yam and carrot salad.
Suggestions from me would be to have a good biscuit selection to go with coffee and tea as there doesn't seem to be anything available at the moment - Arnott's cookies would be nice. Also a wider range of magazines.
The lounge is nice. Better than the old lounge except for the lack of desktops and printing facilities. Better than a lot of international lounges I have visited.Maybe I'm becoming a lounge snob.... But nothing really grabbed me by the balls to say this was necessarily deserving of the hype.....
