Well there were two good Australian players in the Test - Lyon for his bowling and Siddle for his batting.

That's a sad state of affairs when the only player to get half centuries (in both innings) is a bowler. He showed more mettle in the 2nd innings than the rest of the team. Pattinson helped him in both innings try to put some respectability to the score at the tail end.

I'm assuming Webber would be even moreso!

His words on on the podium summed it up well, that Vettel will be "protected".
I'l be amazed if Webber lasts the season out with RBR, but the reality is that it may be his best bet to win a championship.

There was talk over the weekend that Hamilton spoke to Eccelstone to try to get an RBR seat. Perhaps Webber and Hamilton should do a swap mid-season?

Absolutely ropable about the F1 result.

I don't understand the "sport" but have heard there is a lot of controversy about the result. The fastest driver won but is being criticised because he didn't 'tank' and let someone else win. If there is going to be a pre-determined result then surely this should be told to everybody beforehand so that they know who to cheer and who to back to win.

Even if the result is pre-determined in teams this should be made public so that the spectators know who will pull back and why.

Still it gives Webber another chance to whinge about losing.

Meanwhile I'll go and watch something exciting like watching my grass grow.

Webber was actually in the lead. He was overtaken by his own team member, at some risk of damaging both cars and thereby both cars (and therefore the Team) missing out on a podium finish. You had to be there.

It's not at all about what was pre-determined. It is about the situation they were in.

To clarify, he was told that the situation was locked in and to take it easy, dialed down the car to preserve it for the next race and Vettel took the opportunity to pounce.

The fastest driver didn't win. Webber was the fastest driver up until the team issued orders to both their drivers to slow down and preserve their cars. Vettel chose to ignore that order and overtook Webber, rather dangerously too. So Vettel, despit enot being the fastest crossed the line first.

In this instance I think Webber is quite right to be whinging. He didn't hold back on the podium interview either.

But..there will be no ramifications. Vettel is RBR's poster child, they'll treat Webber as nothing more than a contract driver...

Webber was following orders and turned his engine down ( they're only allowed 8 engines a season) that's why Vettel got past.

Webber was effectively told the race was over.

Personally I think team orders should be banned but even when they were it still happened they just didn't admit it.

Hamilton should never have been third that was just wrong

I think the reason behind un-banning it was that it was un-enforceable anyhow. It happened by other means. Shcumi and Barrichello was some of the ugliest isntances of this happening.

Agreed. Poor Rosberg had to deal with Schumi, now he gets another hyper-inflated ego teammate. Nico has been with them for how many seasons? working on the development of the team and then Nicole Scherzinger's handbag waltzes into the team commanding all obedience

Actually, both drivers had been told to throttle down, preserve their vehicles and ensure they finish the race.

Vettel is contrite (Formula 1® - The Official F1® Website) but will still go in the record books as winning.

Yeah, it's like the people who do all sorts of nasty things in their life and then having a last minute confessional before they die. Meaningless and insincere.

I was watching 8 laps before the race and couldn't believe the things Vettel was trying to do to get past.

Tried reading that post in Chrome and it still would not translate into something I understood

Every aspect of F1 is micro-controlled (except the racing!) - I don't hold with criticisms of "team orders".
Teams are restricted to the number of tyres they can use in a race, pitstops, engines per season so teams create a strategy for the season overall and then each race and any eventualities they can consider.
With $300 million of sponsor's money and 500 people to consider, it makes very good sense to tell your drivers to hold their positions after the last pitstop, turn the ECUs down and conserve the engines.
The strategies and tactics are a part of F1 racing that the teams need to employ to firstly abide by the (ever-changing) rules, and secondly win the race!
Vettel yet again displayed his immaturity and towering ego much to the detriment of his team and the "sport" (it fits any description of sport you care to put forward) in general.

F1 is less about sport, and more about engineering companies..that happen to race cars.

Pretty much spot on.

This is why I don't like Vettel, he's a dick!

Yes he's taken lessons from the cheating grand master Schumacher

Both incredibly talented drivers but both with a win at all costs attitude, I remember watching Schumacher deliberately driving into someone so they couldn't win the title.
