Glad you have a great sense of humour! However, as you would know, getting annoyed in Land of Smiles doesn't help. Good they had a sister hotel with vacancies.
I do have a great sense of humour.

Sister hotel was OK. Sadly I cannot say the same for the guests.

Will stay there again though as the price point is right.

Why is Singapore so dam expensive; looking for some accommodation and Hilton and ICs are expensive.

Might consider hotel 81 chain, less than $100 so pretty cheap. Johnk might have a suggestion,
I have stayed in a number of the Hotel 81's and Fragrance chains in Singapore. Cannot complaoin. Clean rooms (even though they are small) and a good sleep.

Hotel 81 Princess, Hotel 81 Joo Chiat, Fragrance Sapphire, Fragrance Emerald and a few others.

What was wrong with the guests?

Do you want the full story or the short story?

I go ballistic when I am at the breakfast buffet and there is a male adult holding a young baby, his wife next to him and a 3-4 year old son next to them playing with the food at the buffet.

Also I do not appreciate being pushed out of the way at the buffet on more than one occasion.

These were not the only incidents. Many many more daily.

For those that thought pigs don't fly you are totally mistaken.

One more 'like' and we've got 6666, the hexadecimal devil

Had the toll money in hand as well as the battered old hotel card (Conrad). The toll was THB270 plus THB50 airport fee. The best fare ever from the airport. A nice tip was provided.
That is a good price but I am struggling to understand why Sukhumvit area is so far from airport. Need to have a look at the Bangkok map more closely.

Went from Millenium Hilton to Mo Chit bus station this morning and the taxi fare was THB145 + THB50 tollway and then immediately after went to BKK airport and taxi fare was THB237 + THB75 for tollway.

Was in Soi Cowboy with a friend a couple of nights ago and the taxi driver wanted THB100 to take us to Hilton Doubletree. Told him to get stuffed and instead walked there in ~30 minutes.

The weather in Adelaide at the moment is neutral. Neither hot or cold. Rather weird for this time of the year.

Funny thing about ADL, I go about 2km down the road to Hazelwood Park, the temperature increase is about 4c and it's sunny.

Was at LHR earlier today, noticed quite a few bags with what looked to be priority tags on. They looked like *A ones, but they were green. I did also see the orange ones. Was I imagining things? :)

Alaskan King crab legs and lobster mornay were both back at the Cafe Opera at the Intercontinental Sydney smorgasbord last night. A good dining spot for Priority Privilege card holders to score a free meal if you turn up with two or more.

The temp gauge on my verandah just reached 39°...so hiding inside with the air- con watching the cricket

I was there with you. We turned on the air con at 9am (surprised we lasted as long) and only turned it off at 10pm - there was meant to be a cool change after 7pm, but it was only wind pushing around the hot air.

Built a lot of Lego yesterday with my son and watched the English crumble as usual. 5-0 is a distinct possibility.

We aren't exactly talking big money here. 100baht is only a little more than $3.:D

As JohnK and I both know. However, if you let them rip you off you are entrenching corruption and setting up the next visitor for even more trouble.

These thieves need to be pulled up every time so that they know we're on to them and that they could make money if they are honest.

Some fun with a water pistol (hot water) in Cold Canada.

OK, well in the first 2 instances it sounds like the meter was on, so little opportunity for 'corruption' there.

I'm guessing that the 100bt fare offer was at a time of night when the driver thought he could let the market dictate the fare, but he and JohnK didn't agree on price. We've had the same situation and have walked away, but have never found a shortage of cabs in BKK. Sometimes we have had difficulty in getting them to cross the river, to go to the Hilton Millenium, but they're happy to go to the Riverside Plaza (near Sheraton) where we can get the Hilton shuttleboat. I honestly find it hard to believe that they can make any money from cab driving.

I won I won I won.... Wait, there's more!

Recieved it as I was replying to another topic..
