Not that I can 100% speak for others, the original reference by QP WP would have been an A League (aka soccer, aka football depending on your viewpoint). Robbi's opinion would have been a view about said competition comparing it to netball & the non contact rules of netball.

Ah, the subtleties completely escaped me.

On the other hand I'm not sure I like the comparison with a female sport being used as a put down of soccer.

Anywhere from a day or two to a fortnight IME. But I'd usually start applying the heat after about a week or so.
