Found out today I have been volunteered for an interview panel for next Thursday. All day and 26 interviews. Thursday evening there will be wine, lots of wine :D
(There is no truth to the rumour that it's punishment for my imminent trip to the UK :p )

That's the number of short-listed people for interview :shock:. Even assuming an 8-hour day, that's 18.46 minutes/interview on average. Sounds worse than speed-dating - and even more ridiculous :p.

If that's for one position, that's crazy.

My "rule" is to avoid interviews, but I draw the line at 6-8/job. Any more than that and your pre-screening of the cvs is insufficient.

Sounds like speed dating:lol::lol::lol:

How many seconds does each hopeful get? And then time for panel talk in between interviews. And wee breaks and lunch.

Just noticed my speed dating thought ws preceded by JohnM.

That would be right. You'd have greater chance of running into an AFFer overseas than what you would here?

Well you certainly never run into me at home!

Pah! Mal and I have been over here a few years now

I have been to the UK several times during that period, but always for work with limited spare time unfortunately.

Huge swells on GC and later today on Sunshine Coast - 2.5 to 3m swells. The size I loved as a lifesaver on a rescue board

My club was Forrest Beach. Protected by the reef, our swells were measured moving the decimal point one place to the left... on a big day.

Some food for thought given recent issues in the Aussie wine industry and the current exchange rate.

I sometimes think about all the wine that I drink, and then I feel ashamed. Then I look in the glass and think about all the workers in the vineyards and all their hopes and dreams. If I don’t drink this wine they may lose their jobs and their dreams could be shattered. Then I say to myself, it’s better to drink the wine rather than be selfish and just think about my own liver.

It's a bit like that, over a 10 hour day.
Never tried speed dating so cannot possibly comment further :p

My previous record was 16 in one day. We have multiple positions available and AFAIK the CV's were halved at the initial cull.

Road trip to Tamworth this weekend.
I may finally get to drive the new Subaru XV further than the length of the driveway. :D

Aaaaaah Tamworth, there is a great motorcycle museum there.

I even saw motorbikes younger than the one I ride

And only an hour up the road is Armidale.... I will be there in November. Driving up from ADL.

I've turned into a boring old married man....... Mrs Flashback is having a girlie weekend with friends and the only option I'm coming up with right now is gym or clean the house.

Definitely the gym in that case !
Mrs Flashback will notice every speck of dust you missed when she gets back if you choose the latter

Might have broken my toe at hockey last week so see what the Dr says today! Still sore 1.5 weeks later and can't bend it .. figured I should get it checked ;) Probably not much you can do for them anyway.

Unless it's your big toe, you'll probably do well :)
Good idea to get it checked

Very pleased to read in Aus Aviation that Belmont is set to once again be an airport thanks to Matt Hall and co, while it may not be an RPT operation it's still quite unique when it comes to aerodromes.

What! No brie and bottle of wine on hand? Surely there must be a 24/7 nearby?

Mrs. B is out for the week (flew to SYD to see the grand kids) so out comes the good stuff
