But it gets worse.

In both Coles and WoW I have repeatedly found products where say the 2kg flour is more costly than buying 2 x 1kg packets. The longest I noticed this last was nearly a year (Coles).

Talk my kids (when first able to do simple maths in their heads) to convert sweet packet prices to a price per kilo. They really found the mispricings in the various chocolate products. Culminated once in buying individual serve chocolates rather than 220gm 'party pack' for lolly bags.

Unfortunately the shops will not consider the 'scanning price promise' when a larger volume product cost more than say 2 of the same product at 1/2 the size. So much for logic...

But they do now have the per weight or volume prices displayed all be it in very tiny letters on the shelf price ticket. You do get some crazy situations where a packet size not on special is cheaper than the one on special.

I guess you have figured out where those with weak arithmetic skills have pulled jobs.

Just back from the eye Doctor. Seems I have an eye condition called Keratoconus and it has been getting worse. The Doctor has recommend I receive a new treatment called Corneal collagen crosslinking with riboflavin to halt the condition. And of course medicare and probably my medibank private probably wont cover it.

Yes, so much for logic. The scanning code only applies when an item doesn't scan at the marked price. Not if you think the marked price is wrong.
The person in the checkout ahead on me last weekend had their loo paper scan at the wrong price. All 6 packets. She challenged the checkout operator asking for the items for free but was told the scanning code doesn't apply because she was yet to actually pay for the item.

Now the scanning policy is not exactly my area of expertise, but I thought the customer was in the right. Customer didn't challenge it through.

So pay for it and then get the freebie. It is only the first item that is free as well. Also, I think only woolies follow the scanning code.

But yes the customer was correct.

Sorry to read that. Hope all works out for you.

MBP have been pushing hard to get us to change our extras policy by offering all sorts of incentives. We have an old policy no longer offered ... eye surgery/cover is one of them. Hope your cover gets you over the line!

Work is totally overrated.

10 pars is a great game of golf for me. Only 1 double bogey thanks to a second 3-putt.

just had some pretty darn good news while sitting here contemplating if I can afford to keep buying my work flights. Long time between drinks, 24 years since I won a car alarm in a raffle, but 12 months of work flights are locked in with QF

I've been caught once by that too. Now I make payment and then go to the service desk. IIRC first item free and any others are repriced at correct price.

I need help on this one Medhead, what's the link b/w winning a car alarm and securing your next 12mths of work flights?

Good question. Not sure if people remember. But Qantas recently ran a promo, book a flight and go into a prize draw, raffle. I won the Qantas raffle. Prize is a pretty big voucher (UATP card) to spend on Qantas flights, not JQ nor qantaslink. I'm trying to work out if jet connect is considered QF. There is also a condition about not earning points. But the amount is roughly equal to my annual work flight bill, when I really chase the specials.

Sorry to be cryptic, still waiting for the full details.

Cheers - that's a great win, well done.

Awesome bit of crackpottery this morning:

ARE YOU CONSTANTLY BEING:

Treated like a Targeted Individual?
Attacked by Psychotronic Weapons?
Subjected to Psychic or Spiritual Attacks?
Subject to Remote Brain Manipulation?
Have you been chipped or implanted?
Subjected to Electronic Harassment?
Exposed to HAARP ELF Microwave beams?
Subject of Voice to Skull experiments?
Subjected to Remote Viewing & Visions?
Are you on a TI list being Monitored?

Targeted Individual (TI) = a person being harassed (often Electronically)

A couple that I would pick out:

1. Treated like a targeted individual.
So you're not actually a targeted individual? Just treated like one. How do I know if I am a TI or if I'm being treated like a TI?
2. Subjected to Electronic Harassment.
Well, yes, that person with their loud music on the train is annoying, but harrassment.
3. Subject to Voice to Skull experiments.
Yes, people talk to me all the time. How dare their!!!
4. Subjected to Remote Viewing & visions
Yes, there is CCTV everywhere. I also look at pictures of far away places.
5. Are you on a TI list being monitored?
Would knowing I'm on a TI list defeat the point? What if I'm on a list that is not being monitored? I think I'd rather be on a monitored list than to be on a forgotten list.

Anyway, if any of this is a problem for you for only $297 you can buy a device, that comes in black or white, that "can help manage all your symptoms". Not stop the attacks, just manage the symptoms. Of course, it is highly recommended that you also buy the tabletop version for $499.
