What do you think of it?

I don't think we have the whole story, but I guess we can agree that what the woman is doing is categorically wrong. I thought, before opening the link, this was one of those cases where an employee develops something on the side or on their spare time that does not contribute to the company, makes a lot of money out of the idea and now the original company is coming back for a piece of the pie since it was developed on their time and resources.

I agree about the tour never going ahead.

Smith's suggestion is not only wrong regarding the spirit of the game but there are so many people that have had a bet on the result of the game and the series.

Sydney has an average annual rainfall of 1212 mm over an average of 143 wet days. Melbourne has and annual average rainfall of 647 mm over an average of 150 wet days

IP cant exactly be physically locked away. So employees can take protected words/software etc and there will always need to be court battles if the offender takes no notice of legal letters re the offence.

We own IP and it is protected in the US, China, and Australia. We had to pay for a legal 'cease and desist' letter when someone used one of our IP products in the same context as our trademark. They stopped so no court case required.

Isn't that a bit like saying you may not have done enough to secure your home and contents from thieves... yet it doesn't mean it is OK for someone to nick your TV?

IP is pretty difficult to secure. It can be done legally, however sometimes you still get headaches across jurisdictions. That also doesn't cover any incidental damage if it leaks anyway, i.e. you can sue the person who leaked for whatever punitive or compensatory damages, and other people who happened to come across it can't use it either without penalty, but the fact remains the IP is out there now.

Finally, there is a very thorny issue of IP which actually hasn't been formalised as IP yet, let alone protected IP.

Meh. Melbourne is a fantastic city. Sporting capital, coffee capital, fashion capital etc etc. Fabulous wine regions, morning peninsula, great ocean road. How long can one city pin all its hopes on a harbour? Sydney-siders go on and on about Melbourne weather, but cant face the fact their own city is far more wet than ours.

Coming from RAdelaide I am independent. Sydney is a great place to visit but if I was to live interstate then Melbourne it is. My son lives in Sydney and it is a hard place to work although he does have a great party life. Too great.

Nothing other than a harbour.you need to spend a bit more time in Sydney.Pittwater and palm beach.In fact any beach is better than Melbourne's.Kuringai NP,Royal NP and Lane Cove NP.The Coastal road to Wollongong,blue Mountains and the Hunter isn't too far away.
And fashion capital.Spend some time in Paddington.And did you know one of the Finalists in the NY fashion week for emerging designers was from Sydney-The House of Cannon.Mrsdrron even owns a couple of numbers from there.
Sporting capital?only because Melburnians have nothing else to spend their money on!
