When I was young (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth), I was always taught to "eat up" so I could grow up to be big and strong, and we were always told NEVER WASTE FOOD.
Decades later I have "very bad" habits now.
No wonder we have such an obese population. Force feeding children.
Think there's about 25-30 years difference between you and penegal. Are we the same generation? When I was a lad (sounds very G&S) my mother used to exhort me to eat up with the thought: "Think of all the starving children in Asia."

My nephew is 2 years old. Don't need to ask him twice to finish up his food. In fact he comes back for more and more. Hope he doesn't end up as big as his uncle.
I'm feeling a little lost tonight and not looking forward to the next phone call from my parents.
Thanks for understanding my need to share and vent my frustration at the world. Looks like I'll be booking flights to CBR (or changing an existing booking to MEL). #%^%# I hate CANCER.......
I have only ever seen penegal play 4 holes of golf. Par was the furthest thing from his mind.As long as he can go around in par off the stick!

Their best friends are my god parents - they lost their son in 1994 and my god father has become known as Lazarus for the number of times he has gone into hospital and somehow survived (multiple health issues). He was admitted to hospital again last week but looks like checking out tomorrow.
Tonight I ring my parents to see how they are and they let me know that my god parents daughter (about 5 years older than me) is in ICU and not expected to last tonight. I was gobsmacked. Seems that I never knew she'd had cancer of the bone marrow before and apparently she was on a trial drug that I was told appeared to be a success, but the cancer returned with vengeance. Annie is a nurse so would have been well aware of any prognosis. She collapsed at home on the weekend doing the housework and we surmised that she was already aware of the new diagnosis and was readying her house (for her husband and Uni aged kids) as she knew she was going back into hospital.
Whilst I am disappointed that nobody had ever told me about her first brush with cancer, I'm grateful that I know prior to her death. I'm also amazed that her father is hoping to be able to check himself out of his hospital bed and hoping his daughter survives long enough for him to see her tomorrow morning. It'll break him (as the death of his son did) and I don't expect him to out survive Annie for long. Having the likelihood of being the sole survivor of the family, I don't know how my godmother will cope.

Were you playing putt putt? That doesn't normally happen. I had a bad batch of ... ahem... red wine... the night before.
I played 9 holes with a client this morning and managed 1 over (It was a very easy course - client was 2 under!).
I had both Asia and Africa. Asia if I didnt eat up the rice - served boiled, no flavouring/sauces or if stewed meat, it was Africa. Not my generation then.It was the starving children in Africa in my day.
So you can play golf when you're sober? :mrgreen:Nein.
Real golf, just half a round.
