50 years of decimal currency, in came the dollars, in came the cents, to replace the pounds and the shillings and the pence. Who remembers the jingle, you probably saw it on youtube which is 11 years old today.

Well Annie fought but the news isn't good. Her kidneys which were failing have now failed. She is on a ventilator and I would presume a kidney machine. I was told last night that her son is flying back from overseas arriving tonight (he was trialling for inclusion in the Australian Olympic team in mountain bike riding). They can then say their goodbyes and her husband, daughter, son and parents will all be present when they take her off life support on Monday. Can't imagine having to make that decision but it's one that must be made as there are no miracles from where she is.

My parents are catching the first available flight once they've received word, to be with them (no return date planned). I'll fly down for the funeral whenever it is.

Very sorry to hear QF WP.

I refuse to pay for rubbish. Ripped CDs and a good sound system are far better than poor quality free-to-air or pay TV

There is excellent TV on HBO and etc. Certainly it isn't rubbish.
I'm not really getting the comparison of music and TV. But I'm sure there is plenty of reason to say that CDs are rubbish with the limit dynamic range on the remastered disc. Surely vinyl is the way to go?

We NEVER go out that weekend ! It is usually a nightmare, so we stay in and have cheese on toast

It's my and MrsTheEmu's anniversary on the 16th so we ignore the 14th and save celebrations, dinners, gifts, etc for 2 days later.
20 years this year and as a special bonus we're in the same country as each other!

So sad, I can't find the words..........

Tks Flashback - BUT - I did strike a downside.

During booking process with Orbitz you can choose seats prior to finalising booking - I could choose J seat on 1st sector but on 2nd sector it would only display Y cabin to select seats so I abandoned.

Booked direct on CZ site and booking now showing F on 787 - I am desperate to select seats but cannot for the life of me work out how to select seats on CZ site - anybody got any clues?

Ah yes but calling / emailing Chinese carriers can be so frustrating.

I've never been able to select seats for any Chinese carrier regardless of booking method/site.

St Valentine's Day is unforgettable for me. A few years ago on this day I was wheeled into surgery for a mitral valve repair. When the surgeon commented on the date when booking me in, I replied "Well, couldn't be a better day to mend a broken heart."

The day MrP had major surgery for aggressive cancer. News at the time was 50/50 survival after five years. 35 years later and clearly the odds fell in our favour.

Researching our Japan trip coming up in just over a month. Now I know some of you trust TA but I find it confusing.Looking at reviews on a Tokyo restaurant I am considering the first TA review is titled-Great Views but Slow Service. The very next review is-No view but Fantastic Service.Hmmm.

But looking at a shopping street in Hikone-yes it is an i not an a-one of the shops is called Used Colon.I don't really feel like looking into it.

That's once in a blue moon.

Don't drink tea/coffee, hardly any sweets, have been on fruit and vegetables for the past 4 weeks, alcohol intake reduced. Same weight I was 4 weeks ago.

I reckon I could stop eating and still put on weight.

and you can pig out on celery as much as you like (just no dip on it though)...

as it requires nearly as much energy for your body to digest it as it provides...

a useful way to deal with kids demanding food 30-40 minutes before dinners ready....

and those late night movie cravings.

February is a tough month as I have Anniversary on the 12th, Valentines Day (still expected although not necessarily reciprocated..) and birthday present(s) to find for the 16th.

We normally get back from school holidays/visiting rels around the 25th/26th Jan.

Brownie points for organising two Valentines Day on honeymoon only lasted 2 years.

Flew from Sydney to Kona on the afternoon of 14th so got nearly 2 full daylight Valentines Days.

Haven't had a window seat for a while, peered out and saw this, about 35mins out of MEL to ADL. A romantic farmer perhaps?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
