Just a random post (keeping things off topic!) to get rid of the 'you haven't posted lately' banner!

I've cut down on all forms of social media posting in recent times. And in many ways that is a good thing.

Mal we are going to Los Angeles in a couple of weeks. Our friends get there today via Singapore and Seoul using Avianca Miles. They cannot go back to economy flying since I showed them US Airmiles some years ago.

I think the fee to stop at the Sydney overseas passenger terminal is so high the ships grab provisions and passengers and get moving within 24 hours most times. Does anyone know how much 24 hours costs for mooring there?

Was asked by someone to donate a hamper of work related goods for a raffle.

Considering we never got a thank you for the last one, nope

I don't need the thanks but it would be nice to pass it on on to my marketing boss that gives me the ok.

In the mean time, just made two hampers for a disability social club raffle.

Not sure how the charges for Sydney compare but single day visits are the norm for most ports around the world. There are quite a few ships with overnight stops in Sydney in the next month though some of them are either at White Bay or are at Athol Buoy for some of the time. QE,QV, Azamara Journey, Aurora, Black Watch, Costa Luminosa, Artania all have overnight visits to Sydney.

The problem with ships parking there is the restaurants lose the view.

We paid $20+K for a Christmas party, walk in and view huge wall of ship.

Thankfully at 8pm, it moved out but if it didn't and it was my $20K, I would have been very peeved.

Denali that is something I notice when I stay in Circular Quay. I have had friends waving from a ship moored there. Those ships can be view blockers but we still get to see the SHB and the Park Hyatt.

I can wave to you from the PHS.

Yeah, it's rare for there to be overnights at that terminal, but often there are overnights at the other cruise ship terminals.

Agree - you would be pissed off at Quay if you had a view into the side of a mega cruise liner for your dinner / function.

The one time we went to Quay there was no ship. A safer option is that Café Sydney as boat or no boat your view will be ok.

Been to a couple of those joints on previous Sydney visits (although not Quay) and didn't find them that great.

Checked out Imperial Peking the other week, but decided to find somewhere less pretentious in Chinatown. No regrets.
