Just hit Virgin Silver again!!!

Was a very frequent flyer in my last job, and was Gold for about 7 years, and gave only re-started business flying. Thank you flybuys for making my ascension easier. Should be Gold by March and Platinum is not out of reach.

Congratulations.

I love your avatar image.

Red lights! What red lights? Just drive straight through.
Our local police area commander warned us nearly ten years ago NOT to play Russian roulette with green lights at night.

The number of people driving under the influence of:
  • alcohol
  • drugs (legal & illegal)
  • fatigue
  • mobile phones
is so high that when approaching ANY intersection after about 9pm you should always check the conflicting traffic to see they are actually going to obey the signals/signs.

Back in early December last year - a little after 10pm on a Friday night we heard a huge impact sound followed a few seconds later by a large 'thud'.

Went outside to find a young lady driving a small hatchback who had been hit by a large SUV at high speed through a red light. The green light was just going red as I came out. The SUV had not stopped.

The force of the impact sent the small car airborne for around 10 metres, twisted it 90 degrees so it landed with its rear less than 4 cm from a power pole. Her airbags worked brilliantly - though she would have had some colourful bruises in the morning.

The impact was so violent that it had popped the sun-roof from the SUV which was found over 200m further down the road - complete with ID microdots to stop theft.

Police 1 SUV Driver 1 (arrest).

Australia dash cam had a video earlier this week of a 96yr driver sending his camry airborne out of a car park, down a hill, OVER another car and into another car park.

Terrifying.

Yeah! It made the news as well. Amazing he didn't seem to suffer any serious injuries.

Of course it raised - again - the issue of wanting to ban all seniors from the roads  But then we'd have to ban all under 30s as well. Might be a good idea.

At least under 30’s generally grow up and get better.

as long as they did not kill themselves...

For both males and females - if you make it to 26 or so then you are likely to make it to 80s.

Those under 30 don’t tend to mistake the brake and accelator pedals...

It would be an interesting comparison.

Accidents caused by young vs old drivers. Lot of guidelines needed to make it appropriate though.

Indeed it would be interesting.

Stereotypes about groups of drivers does nothing to enhance safety on the road (my post was tongue in cheek).

You also need to assess rates per number of trips and kilometres travelled.

When my father in law was in his 90s, he legally was allowed to drive during daylight and within a few klms from home.

He would walk to the top of his driveway and forget where he lived. Thankfully his wife, mum in law, basically said no more driving and that was it, he was grounded.

If a person doesnt have dementia, mobility scooters are a great option. My mum goes to doctors appointment, shopping, church, visit friends ect with hers. Its given her freedom to be independent.

Had a feeling I'd been caught exceeding the speed limit over the past few weeks - mobile cameras on highways, not school or residential zones.

Just reviewed my demerit point tally - happily found no recent blemishes. Have accumulated 2 points which expire in 3 months.

..... Process is very important but having the right people to run the process is crucial and that IMHO is what you need to watch.....
The problem arises that the typical client with funds under fund managements are one or more steps removed as they are clients of super funds who outsource much of their FM. There is little hope for the little guy in the street with life savings locked up in such vehicles to have any sophisticated view of who is making bets with their life savings.

Remember Madoff hoodwinked the financially sophisticated. But Ultimately the fool is easily parted from their $$
