Will be interesting to see if today can get any worse. Only a few hours left.

I had a wonderful day. Started visiting Colonial houses for the next book and 3 out of 3 were remarkable beyond what we were expecting.

Rocked up at one place unannounced because we didn't have a phone number and received a very enthusiastic welcome. Gorgeous, hospitable, country people :)

More tomorrow!

Groan. We have a water leak from the washing machine in our leased apartment. The water outlet goes into the wall - we can’t access it as the outlet is ‘somewhere in the wall cavity’ but the water treks about 1.5 meters hidden until it wets the carpet at the entrance to the bathroom.

The logistics of getting it sorted are beyond me. It’s an apartment owner/body corporate/Insurance issue as the wall cavity on the other side is the stairwell so it’s body corporate property. Will need owner inspection. Body corporate inspection. Insurance inspection (owners) then repair to pipe and then carpet repair. And I’m not here all that often and when MrP is he’s working.

Our property is not impacted. The washing machine area is up top and to the left of this picture so water is being taken out then must be running along the wall cavity to the carpet D81DCA32-86B6-4AC4-9681-3918BE607A53.jpeg

It isn’t our issue to sort thankfully other than being here when things need to be done. But currently no washing facilities. We are just leasing it so owner/property managers job to sort but being a CBD property and owners live some distance away and ??? Property managers it’s a bit of a pain.

It just makes me want to weep........

Florida lawmakers on Tuesday passed a resolution declaring coughography a public health risk, less than an hour after they rejected a motion to consider a bill that would ban assault rifles.

The Florida House of Representatives opened its Tuesday session with a motion to debate a bill banning assault rifles, which it rejected by a 36-71 vote within three minutes, according to The Washington Post.

And I’ve heard that exposed nipples are also very damaging.

At what point do they declare themselves a sick society?

A country that cannot protect their children at school from physical harm, but does like to ensure their moral sensibility, is not a great country.

And that's one of the reasons I have lost any desire to visit, regardless how 'nice' or 'welcoming' people say ordinary citizens are. :(

The NRA won't back down quietly or easily but the kids are social media savvy, empowered AND they will start voting soon themselves.

Change is a'coming. It will be slow but eventually they will at least make a start.

It’s interesting. They go out of their way to say ‘excuse me’ when in normal circumstances we in Australia would pass a bump in the street off as just being crowded. Or Thankyou with a heavy emphasis that sounds rather ingenuine. Yet when politeness is really needed it’s lacking. I was caught in a rain storm in NY and all my paper shopping bags just collapsed. Not one person tried to help me gather the purchases. They either stepped over them like they weren’t lying in a puddle or went all the way round to avoid me. I really don’t like insincere politeness.

A marathon starts with one step.

But with voting optional, I doubt it will make any difference. Most of the youth don't vote, even when eligible.
