Yes, both QF and VA have Kathmandu listed in their mall. Kathmandu will also give free shipping if over $100 and if you buy their club membership ($10 lifetime), it can often pay for itself in the first buy.

I did a bad thing, made hubby try out boots and jackets and then I went home and ordered to get points. I did say to the sales person thats what I was doing and she seemed OK with it/still got paid for working that day.
thanks - I will remember that!

Reminder for SA: Woman dies from contaminated pomegranate

A SOUTH Australian woman has died from hepatitis A after eating a frozen pomegranate product recalled from supermarket shelves last month.

I dont buy frozen fruits but therese no guarantee its not being used in fruit drinks or cakes that you buy at cafes.

Very concerning.

Also the question remains.

The Allies knew about the concentration camps and mass extermination’s but did not bomb Auschwitz not the other camps nor the railway lines leading to them. Why?

And if this could not be resolved through the hindsight of history how could it have been resolved in war?

A complex and divisive discussion for sure, i guess we will never truly understand the whys and wherefores of the actions taken and not taken.
Many arguments advanced ( included, but were not limited to) Propaganda by the Germans against the allies, strong anti Semitic stance by many in the US Congress, and many other spurious arguments.
With the advantage of hindsight we can state more clearly what course of action we would take, knowing so m ugh more about what happened compared to then.
Not a happy result regardless

Mum drinks only bottled water. Dad does too on occasion + bitter lemon. My brother drinks soft drink and mineral water and then there's my addiction.

Money goes towards my daughter's school fund.

Drink water, and the school fund will grow at 100 times the rate

the boots that Silverseas rents are from a company called ship to shore, so not just renting ones left behind. :). I think we will probably do it, just from the point for view of not having to carry them with us (even if we did leave them behind).

Rent Men's Boots-Delivered to Ship

Going to Sydney tomorrow for Vivid and haven’t much to do on Thursday, so will probably check out Paddy Pallins and Kathmandu and educate ourselves on base layers etc.

Mont in Fyshwick is also a good place to check out, they are a long established Canberra business manufacturing under their own label, you may even meet the inspirational Michael Milton who works there occasionally. Michael Milton

Any visits to concentration camps? Only for the respect factor but I really want to visit Auschwitz or Dachau

I’ve been to Auschwitz and Birkenau. Unbelievable experience. Read some of Primo Levi’s books for a real insight!

Creative Gourmet should be banned - itis just an importer of frozen fruits from China. The Hep A is due to faecal contaminated irrigation. Not the first time

Only buy Ftozen foods from Australian grown sources.
I buy from Frozen Berries, Frozen Vegetables, Bulk Buy Fruit and Vegetables | Harvestime Australia in Hornsby NSW
Wholesaler who sells to retail customers. Very reasonable prices - very often cheaper than the CG carp

Isn't most of our fruit in Australia frozen? Buy a pear that looks great today and tomorrow it's bruised all over the place.

Hepatitis A is extremely serious.
I’ve seen people die from all sorts of viruses.
If flu virus can kill so can Hep and the rest
No specific treatment to make it go away. If your liver fails/does you need a liver transplant ASAP...if they can find one in time..

Ancestry is a scam IMO

DNA is not defined by current national borders having being around a lot longer than countries

There is no “Scottish”, “Polish” etc DNA

Ancestry is a scam IMO

You wouldn't like to know if you have a bit of the "missing link" in there somewhere ?

I’m off to Nepal in October for a 14 day trek to Anapurna Base Camp. At 67, it will be demanding. A few weeks ago in Bali (at a swim up bar in Sofitel Nusa Dua) i was talking to a Pom who happened to do the same trek. Like me, he has run marathons, but he was quite a bit younger. I asked him about the day where we have to navigate 5000 steps. “Nearly killed me” he responded.

I’ve got a lot of fitness work ahead of me.

Haha!!

The missing link DNA is there. Just not understood
Strange thing is that when humanoids evolved into apes and humans some of the DNA went beserk and starting replicating and duplicating in very unusual ways. This was unusual because evolution usually depended on mutations leading to positive and negative selections. The theory is that this “beserk” DNA was responsible for the human tree branch but also responsible for a slightly more fragile genetic makeup or genetic instabilit making humans more susceptible to diseases that have a genetic basis like cancer and a number of brain disorders like schizophrenia, epilepsy, intellectual disability.

Only a theory. Who knows. Certainly not Ancestry

It’s the imported stuff that can be more dangerous. Fresh pear, no problem. Frozen raspberries from Thailand, China, potential problem.

If you always buy the cheapest food available, without reference to source, you open yourself up to the lack of hygiene standards in overseas producers. AQUIS has been neutered in recent years by govt cuts so there’s low bio security. Consider the prawn disaster in S Qld. All due to lack of inspection and allowing raw infected prawns allowed into Qld without proper inspections.

Cheap is not always the best choice, JohnK.
