News Limited chairman and chief executive John Hartigan announces launch of iPad apps for the group's major metro papers | Courier Mail

The chairman and chief executive of News Limited, John Hartigan, has announced the launch of iPad applications for the group's major metro newspapers: The Courier-Mail, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun and The Advertiser.

Sydney's Daily Telegraph and Melbourne's Herald Sun apps will launch on Friday November 19, with The Courier-Mail and Adelaide's The Advertiser launching in December.

Only $7.99 / month, and the funniest thing is:

"Around 15 years ago, the first newspaper websites launched, leading to an explosion in readership," he said. "Now a new generation of readers is eagerly consuming digital journalism on tablet devices - expanding our reach even further - and is prepared to pay for high-quality content.

"The new apps will be much more than a static replica of the printed products. They will play to the strengths of the iPad in allowing readers to navigate through our world-class journalism, photography and video content.

Oh, and you don't avoid the ads either:
"Strong, compelling advertising will be as fundamental to these apps as it has been to our newspapers and we are delighted to have already secured some strong commercial partnerships to support the launch of these apps.

News Ltd - World-Class Journalism???? High-Quality Content???? They obviously live in a totally different world to the one I live in.

News Ltd lives in News World!

Only thing I know I've forgotten so far is my iPhone charger, but I'll simply ration my usage, and only post a few photos and maps to the relevant thread.
Wasn't this supposed to be the weekend where a whole lof of AFF'ers were due to double the population of LRE?

I guess we can assume you're not pregnant with the resultant cravings that condition produces. :p
Unless there is some miracle about to happen let's just rule out pregnancy for now. :p

I'd suggest with the multiple medical conditions you've recently suffered it may be a good question for your GP.
Sometimes I find GP's try to avoid questions (I hope I am not offending any GP's on AFF) and just send you to do a whole lot of tests to rule out this condition or rule out that condition and in the end tell you to suffer and put up with the pain as there is nothing they can do. :-|

Most (all but one?) gradually gained other plans. So I'm the only one here, but had a great day so far. Seen it all and completely wiped out FYI.

Now I'm waiting for the rain and relaxing in my room.

I'm glad you have had a good day Sam. I need to do that trip at some point.

Rain does not come on anyone's call. Most of the time it came when I was in the middle of the market with my suits on.

I've heard it all now in this small town...

There's a small but vocal part of the community wanting to ban tourists from using our local hospital:!: I thought public hospitals were for everyone. Plus what happens when we travel to your town?

Wait till word spreads there was a motorbike parked on my front lawn this afternoon. Gossip will be spreading tomorrow!

Remind me never to visit! How on earth would anyone be able to enforce that and even worse why ????

We do have a Rick Stein Restaurant in our area......

There's alot of attitude here about being born and educated here. Luckily there are quite a few of us who are fighting back and winning. I know I'm finally in - not only am I on a first name basis with the pizza place but they give me coffee on the house when I'm walking past.

Re the hospital it would be impossible to enforce. How do you tell someone to drive their sick/injured child to Nowra or Batemans Bay? Especially when their taxes subsidise my small town coastal hospital (but that's getting political so I'll stop there).

No rain here, but it is cold enough. Quite short days, too.

Hope you had a good time in LRE. Did you take any pictures? I think you should consider a TR...

Dear oh dear......where do they have their stents inserted!!!

Dear oh dear......where do they have their stents inserted!!!

It's totally small town stereotype down here. I go for run and people report in to my parents they saw me. Is quite hilarious when I wear knee high socks, short shorts and a singlet....

At least you won't get lost!

True! I run one way and end up in a 100kph zone. The other way takes me 60 then 80kph. Third way takes me to the beach. I find the 100 zone safer to run beside plus is has some great hills! If anyone is insterested I run facing the oncoming traffic when running on the side of the road.

You'd love it. It's a really cool spot. Unfortunately with Qantas' 90th coming up they'd moved some exhibits around to make space for a function and I couldn't find the 767 simulator :(

Hope you had a good time in LRE. Did you take any pictures? I think you should consider a TR...

Snapped about a hundred I think. Will examine what I have when I get home and consider a TR, but I've simply been adding to the QLink Sale thread where the trip was hatched so far.

The gossip could easily have been avoided by parking said motorbike in the backyard! ;)

Not impressed by the Qantas First lounge in Hong Kong. Is there something I am missing.

Only a short time here so didn't bother with the CX lounges. And the wifi is not working in the F lounge so using the airport wifi. Slack Qantas.
