The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Not daft; this is the only way.

Could do SYD-ADL via Melbourne return? Will be about $550 each way (each flight being $274, so $1100 in total) in J using discount codes but you'll get your 220 SC
Doesn't look like there's anything on the weekends :( for SYD-MEL-ADL for the rest of the year. Unfortunately my review date is 31/12.

Tricky review date. The cheaper weeks of December (ie not school holidays or Christmas) now fall within 30 days, so the discount code can’t be used. The $400 SYD-MEL-HBA flights don’t seem to be available this close to flying, but there are some for $532 that would get you 110 credits. 30F04482-C75E-459F-B917-64B45C4C1623.jpeg

Has anyone yet completed the 200 SC challenge and gotten platinum yet? I ask because I status matched from BA Gold (equivalent to QF Platinum) and on my app it shows the amount of SC I need to hit gold only and not platinum.

I also got an email today from Virgin giving me a Status Update. In this email it shows the SC I have achieved so far and what I need to maintain Gold for another year, but absolutely nothing referring to platinum.

I was just wondering if anyone has achieved all the requirements for platinum and what the process was like.

I have only earned 80 SC so far. My app doesn't mention anything about platinum however the Status Update email I received today shows me how I am tracking to reach the 200 SC required to reach platinum and tells me the benefits of platinum. It leaves no doubt that I have been enrolled in the platinum challenge.

Damn this definitely didn't happen to me. I'll need to call them then. Has anyone else done this challenge from BA Gold or hasn't gotten the correct challenge (i.e. showing gold when they should have been enrolled into platinum challenge)?

I called Velocity today and they said I will get the Platinum status (I have already completed 3 flights and learnt 200 SC this month), however, I'm pretty concerned because there is no where I can see that says this. They told me I would get the status when the 3-month period ends, which is 16 Dec for me.

Keen to know any other experiences who have already passed the 200 SC mark.

I'm on this status run at the moment as BA Gold. My route which I'm quite proud of, is SYD-MEL-CBR-MEL-ADL-SYD all in biz for 1200 dollars. System tells me hit gold after two sectors. No information noticeable on the Platinum. Review date is also 16 Dec. So far every flight has been a little late but all connections achieved. Actually I have been quite impressed with the service and the lounges.

Just out of interest, are you doing all of this in one day?

I booked quite a while ago earlier in the year.. Virgin has a sale on and fights were I guess just ramping up...(get in early). It was prior to status match offer. I was flexible and could not believe the prices as I made up the route. Al's picked up a Perth to Cairns return in biz for 700 dollars which is for April next year.

Well done!

Finally, some new credit cards come with SC bonuses. Points Hacks (the owner of AFF) has an offer with an ANZ credit card, it's got a $95 annual fee (essentially free given the card comes with a $95 Virgin Credit each year) but also a sign up bonus of 30 SCs plus 75,000 virgin points (when you spend $1500 in the first 3 months).

It seems that this has now changed. The link shows the new rewards which are very different and no SC credits.. When i applied for the CC the above was what i applied for but I don't know if this is now what i am getting. It took ANZ so long to approve my CC that it looks like that the credit card offer has changed. I always assumed i should get the offer from the day that i applied not from the day that it was approved?

Even the information on the link is now different, its the new offer not the old offer

Should it be the day of application or the day of approval?

Day of application.

That’s what I thought. Oh what fun, now to call ANZ and to sort it out 😢
Well that was 3 hours of my life i will never get back...I was sent from department to department to confirm the CC details and the bonus points that i signed up for. The paperwork that i received didn't look right... Really i wanted this card for the SC. Finally after more than 3 hours (actually probably closer to 4 hours and the other night it was 2 hours on hold also) they were able to confirm that it was the correct credit card and i will get my SC...

In need of 40SC ex-Bne (to complete the switcharoo requirements I stuffed up on my calculation because syd-cbr today all economy). I only have tomorrow morning free as I am in the middle of a QF status run at same time....I really think maybe BNE - SYD is the easiest or even BNE-TSV..
I think pay one way and points the other...I've looked quickly at regional flights but obviously not cheap for tomorrow and small planes...If any suggestions from brains trust I would be very grateful. I'm based in Perth and all other flights locked in...
