$518 seems best I can find for this... Any other options?
Not sure if you can get it done in a single day, didn’t bother checking the timings. But something like BNE-HBA via MEL can be had with a promo code for $215 each way in Choice, netting 35 SC each direction. Since you only need 65 you could even do one of the legs via SYD (30 SC) if the timing is more convenient. LST might be another option, check it out.

Hi all! I'm finally able to travel now and I'd like to maintain my platinum status. I need 85 SCs and 8 sectors by 28 Feb. Any economical tips please (ex SYD)?

8 sectors?
So I take it you have only flown on partner airlines to get the SC’s?
Probably going to set you back $1200ish as you would need to do a couple of SYD-ADL trips via MEL or SYD-HBA via MEL

I've always flown VA for work and leisure. However, I didn't travel much in the last 12 months, as I was parental leave. But a recent family holiday with QR helped me get most of the SCs (with family pooling) to maintain platinum, but no eligible sectors unfortunately.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try those routes.

@hydrogen1
You’ll soft land to gold so will still have lounge access. So it would be an interesting exercise to think about how many flights you plan to take in the coming year and what the $ cost of paying for Econ X would be, rather than spending around $1200 plus the two or so days of your life to do status runs.

Plus, if the QR flights were relatively recent, those SC will hang around, so have you considered a drop to gold followed by achievement of plat again in the future if your normal travel pattern is sufficiently robust?

Does family pooling count towards sectors? (as well as the obvious SC earn benefit).

@Scarlett I guess it's not that bad dropping to gold :)

I found out earlier that I will have a couple of flights in Feb for work. Maybe I will use points to get the remaining SCs and sectors, as I noticed some reward flights are eligible sector flights.

Thanks for your valuable input everyone!

as I noticed some reward flights are eligible sector flights.
Outside of a promo that would be rare for 'classic' type awards - earlier last year there was such a promotion and award flights did earn SC's and (IIRC) counted as eligible segments.

But not at the moment.

The game is playing you if you want to do an 8 sector status run. Not worth it imo especially since you soft land to Gold.

Thoughts on
Anyone looking for a cheap exotic SR, I saw this thread over on FT:

Edit: it’s actually around A$1,488 booking sooner (Feb thru May by the looks) for 370 SCs (does that sound right?)

Replicated on ITA Matrix at A$1,627:

Even the QR options are reasonably cheap!
This is a great find :) I think it's 360 SC, 320 LH route and 40 for the SH

Needing 79 SC's to maintain Gold by 28/Feb.
Ex MEL
Best I could find is MEL -> BNE -> CNS -> BNE -> MEL
Which will net 80 SC's flying Choice fares for $672.
Can anyone think of a better option?

Thank you

MEL-SYD-OOL-SYD-MEL

One way choice, one way flex. 80 SC. Prices vary but should be able to do it for 600 give or take $20.

Or if you prefer to save some $, paid J one way for 80SC then points back (direct on both)

Could I get some help too please? I need 81 Status credits to renew gold. What would be the best option, flying out of Sydney and return? Thanks!
