The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Thinking of doing the NTL run soon. Don't really want to do it all in one day, is there much to do/see in Newcastle?

As others have mentioned, Hunter is not far. From what I understand, Newcastle is actually the closest major airport.

If you're looking at staying in Hunter, wotif currently has a sale on for Peppers Hunter for $149 a night, min 2 nights. Sale ends in 2.5 hours though.

lobo76, any chance you'll get to my spreadsheet access request from a couple of days ago soon?

My PhD was co-supervised there so I had a chance to go a lot and enjoyed my trips. The airport is close to town as the crow flies, but a long, long way in a car (and abut $70 in a cab). Would also recommend car hire as it will give you more freedom and be much cheaper, and there is a wide mix of things to do around there that are close-by (Hunter, beaches, forest, town - some great old pubs).

If a day trip in warm weather the dunes right next to the airport are spectacular. Has a reputation as industrial and not a leisure destination, but IMO the beaches in that part of the world are better than any other city in Australia.

Yeah and you may just bump into the odd bulk carrier sunning on the beach! (wonder where that leisure destination tag got to )

In all honesty, we want to go purely as tourists as well. One of the attractions we will visit is the tree top rope course thingo (forgot it's name).

Yes, that's the one, thanks!

We did the Central Coast branch of this in December... it's an excellent way to spend half a day

Yep, I agree. We have two different ones here on the GC, one at Thunderbird Park and the other at the Bird Sanctuary. We've done them both and love it. Great fun.

That destination figured prominently in my status run earlier this month to achieve (I hope) Platinum. Nice Flexi fares :D

Received an email from accounts@virgin tonight. Thing is, it wasn't actually a duplicate booking, I booked 1 booking for the lady and I, and then actually one for myself but got my dates crossed. The one that is being honored is for the two of us. However she won't be able to make it (would have been great, I would have qualified SG in one flight!). Can I ring up and cancel her seat on the booking? Perhaps I can pass it on to another AFF'er? Also note the date is around the wrong way, that is the march long weekend here in Victoria.

Dear Adam,

We have identified that the booking for your travel from an exoctic destination to the land of the fluro for 3/10/2013 has been duplicated.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. If you have any queries in relation to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us by return email.

Thanks for the access lobo76

Good to know the booking I made ... specifically to retain Gold beyond March features in there.

Hey guys,

With the spreadsheet access, can I please ask that you PM me only once about it, including your email. The mailbox has a limit of 25 messages and people sending 3 PMs and taking up space is not really fair to others requesting access. I get 2-3 "someone tried to send you a message but your inbox is full" notifications each day.
I'm sorry if it takes a day or two to get to you but I'm getting quite a few PMs each day (and literally hundreds of email requests).

A couple of points:
- One PM is enough, I'll get to it usually within 24-48 hours
- Make sure to include your email in your PM too as it's the only way I can grant access.
- I'm ignoring requests sent by email via Google docs/drive as I have no way to link them to an AFF user. I get like 30 a day, and it's spamming my email. Please don't request via the doc.

There are now over 75 AFFers with access to the document. Many thanks to all the people who've entered routes, built formulae and kept things tidy!

Cheers

Thanks for the hard work lobo76, I woke up with 10+ PM this morning and am only now starting to work through them. I'm not jealous. :)

Thanks lobo76, and I hope that I didn't clog up your inbox too much. I wasn't sure if I had properly submitted the details.

Also thanks from me lobo76. I'll post my gratitude here so as not to fill your inbox (I may or not have been one of those multiple mailers - still working out the forum procedures )

Guys, A50, just wondering if that would work in one day? I've added a new page G: Questions & Comments too! Im up in SYD for the weeekdn of 21st April, so if i could squeeze that run in then it would be fantastic.
