The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Guys, A50, just wondering if that would work in one day? I've added a new page G: Questions & Comments too! Im up in SYD for the weeekdn of 21st April, so if i could squeeze that run in then it would be fantastic.

A50 or A47?

I meant A47! Well I booked it for April, spending 24 hours there then back to MEL! Now to work out hotel accommodation.

Hey guys, I notice the A sheet is all out of sort order (I think someone sorted without headers or something). If you resort it or filter it for some reason can you make sure to put it back the way you found it?
Cheers :)

Which field is it supposed to be sorted on? Can you please clarify?

That's a relief! I thought that it was just me looking at that page and who couldn't work out why it was displayed in that order.

Hi guys, I've been a lurker on these forums a while now :p

trying to get silver->gold before 5 apr and only have 2/3 chances of flying between now and then..so thinking a few business flights might get me the 140-155 points I need.

any help would be appreciated! I'm in Cairns and looking to fly to Brisbane in the middle of March, and Sydney at start of April.

Thanks

W

I wish I had of stumbled upon this forum sooner. I returned last night from a status run having no experience an no idea something like this existed.

I ended up needing to do 2 positioning flights in J at a cost of 13,800 points and netting 40SC each but did a flight with 2 connections at a cost of 21,800 points for 120SC. All up I will Net 200SC for 49,400 points.

Not really good value but it will secure me Platinum for the first time.

Hi all,

I recently received Virgin Pilot Gold as part of a corporate deal. I have until mid-May to gain 80 SCs to earn Velocity Gold for 1 year.

I have had a look on the virgin booking site and can find some cheaper discount economy flights at $6 or $7 per SC - generally lots of little sectors ex BNE.

Any other suggestions? (Should I apply for a Velocity Flyer CC for the immediate 10,000 points and use that instead?)

Thanks

Whats the usual process for finding good status runs? Is there some system that can be applied, or do people just stumble on good deals?

Have you had any luck with accom? This is a pretty crazy run but I'm thinking about it. At least the lounge access inbetween will soften the blow of those two long layovers..

I got accom through the Velocity Rewards Hotel Club site, 4 star for $145 a night :)

If you are after points, there's also a 30,000 bonus velocity points credit card offer.

Thanks Dc3 - thats the card I was referring to.
It gives 10,000 points immediately. I'm not sure if the extra 20,000 points will post in time to book/make a points based status run. I have til mid-May to earn the 80 SCs to retain Gold.

If you have the cash, BNE-CNS in J is ~$430 one way for 60 SC, with a Flexi return at $285 for another 30. (Is it worth just buying the Lounge membership instead? Though you won't get the bonus Gold points, nor the chance to aim to Platinum)

Half of the places I've looked into require 2 or more nights stay, I want to stay on the east side but don't really want to be paying $400 for a nights sleep and then a extra $150 or so for late check out until 6. I'm still targeting something decent! Accomodation is limited there :( Originally it was just suppose to be myself, until I booked flights for the partner too... A short holiday is what it's known as.

And yes, I would literally die if there wasn't lounge access. I'm pretty sure I'm the first guinea pig on this run?! Unless anyone is going before the 5/4.
