The Velocity Status Run Master thread

With my wife and myself both Platinum we will take a punt and see what happens.

I initially didn't decide to head to the Koru lounge for the RAR trip, the celebrity chef and his wife who were on the same flight with me offered to guest my partner and I in.

When I saw the scanner to green, I said to the lounge angel (Emma) I thought we didn't have access, she said of course you can, your flying premium' ushered us in and gave us a quick tour of the lounge.

Hi All...I currently have 340SC, and need 500 by sept to make gold again. Thing is it's showing my last 12months I have 380, so does each month this drop off? So not sure if I need 120 or 160 to make gold by Sept? Also with the current deal to get SCs from using Reward seats, I have 33000 pts, so though biz class would be fastest way to get SCs. Any idea where I can go to make 120SCs in Biz (751 miles or more) that I could get for the 33000 pts?
Thanks in advance for any help!

makiaa,

Yes the status credits (SC) drop off 12 months from when you accrue them. You would have to check when your next lot of SC are to drop off.

What is your home city? And do you need to go anywhere in particular?

With those amount of point's you could definetly do an easy run but if you give us your location and preferred route's we can help you out.

Who (and/or why?) deleted a heap of the Partner Run entries on the spreadsheet? I was just hunting for some DL runs but everything except AA has been removed.

I received access to the Sydney Air NZ lounge in Sydney before the Sydney - Auckland leg but was denied access for the Auckland Raratonga leg - also asked when i got here could i swap and do a straight turnaround and found that I couldnt do so without my ticket being recalculated - not something I particularly wanted. Found that it would have been possible to do the straight turnaround if booked that way even though it did not meet the minimum published booking times (good news for those who booked a straight turnaround).

Spending an enjoyable day on the island (am coming back with partner next week for a week so doing some checking and preparing things - so not a total waste). Looks a lovely place and am going to sort out my licence and internet/phone access etc. Think i'll book the convertible not the motor scooters tho - I'm not terribly brave - but they do look fun:)

thx

The other sheets look ok. Nothing in the change log or archive. I think lobo76 will be able to track down who was accessing it. He can then cancel/restrict access.

They're not deleted. Someone has just saved with a filter applied for American Airlines. I've changed it to Select All.

Here's a suggestion: Since Google Docs saves changes automatically, it might be handy if people "make a copy" of the document first if they just want to look at it and filter/search through it. As soon as you sort or filter or do anything, it will save those changes. And unless you remove these settings/undo -- and even undo is not helpful sometimes if you are actually editing the document, you'll undo your changes! -- they are auto saved. Unless you are editing, simply select "File --> Make a copy", which will save a copy in your Google Drive, and then you can always delete it after looking at the document as you wish.

thats what I do, I don't use google docs much so I'm paranoid about being 'that guy' when using it. (I've noticed this filter issue a couple of times, the first time I freaked when all the VA points runs weren't showing)

Did you try just scanning your BP at the machine in AKL? That should work from what I heard.

A couple of quick tips for those headed to RAR:

Don't stay at Club Raro - The staff acted as though they were stoned. We asked for the late checkout and got told we'd have to move rooms to an unserviced room but that the room would be serviced shortly (we were headed out so that was no big deal). The room was never serviced and it was FILTHY. I'm talking all bins overflowing, dirty dishes and emptry cans everywhere. All the towels used and in a heap on the bathroom floor. Dirty underwear in the corner. Both beds slept in. No toilet paper.
When we came back there was some guy lying on the bed!! (he came in from the adjoining room which was left unlocked). The room was never serviced and even our 3 requests for fresh towels went unheeded until I went to the desk and asked for pool towels! Then on checout they tried to charge us $65 for the privilege!

I've been recommended Ariana Bungalows for a no frills stay (if you're only there for a day or two and don't need resort facilities)
Ariana Bungalows (Rarotonga, Cook Islands): See 9 Reviews and 19 Photos - TripAdvisor

Staircase bar is a very friendly spot and if it's your last night, ask them to book a taxi and they might offer to run you to the airport for 'petrol money'. We took them up on the offer and chose to ride Island Style (sitting in the back of the trailer :P) as my partner thought it looked fun :D

Trader Jacks do an epic seafood platter for 2 for $75

Great snorkeling across the road from "Fruits of Rarotonga" (who also have very nice muffins and preserves, although only instant coffee (a theme on the island) :/

ENJOY!

If you drive along the main road in muri beach, next to one of the lagoon your operators there is a nice cafe there!

I'm noticing lots of price increases today...happy to update the spreadsheet but just wanted to check I'm not mistaken?

Examples MEL-OOL via somewhere logical and MEL-BNE via somewhere logical both up from 21,800 to 28,700 in J.
