The Velocity Status Run Master thread

I'm currently looking at prices for 2 stop trips from Sydney to Japan or Taipei in October and there doesn't appear to be any VA code share flights on SQ from Singapore to Taipei. Is anyone able to confirm that VA don't code share to Taipei?

It does look like it . Just tried a dummy booking on the VA site , whilst it will let you book to TPE , its only the SYD-SIN flight that is recognised as a VA codeshare . The SIN-TPE flight on SQ is booked using an SQ flight number and the same on return.

While enjoying being on the ground at the moment, will start looking later in the year. Any good runs either domestic or internationally? Many thanks in advance

Hi all, I am currently VA Plat but need 180 status credits to maintain and only have a month to do it. Thankfully I am on leave for the next few weeks so have plenty of time available to go flying.

Any ideas please? I live in Sydney so I was thinking Sydney to Darwin via Brisbane in J. I have friends to visit in Darwin so it would be a visit with a purpose. Ouch at the price but I want to keep Platinum as I have to fly allot next year domestically.

I wish there was a status credit on reward seat offer coming up.... right now :)

I'm seeing SYD-MEL-CHC-BNE-SYD in J/PE for ~$1100 which I think should net 200 SC if I added that up correctly.

Hi All,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction please (am new).
Im currently gold and need 105 Status credits before the 18th of Oct.

Not too sure what is the best way of going about it - have tried looking up flights and matching up to credits gained, but seem to not get as many SC per $ as others :(.
Any ideas or guidance?

Based in Brisbane, I have friends in Mel, Syd, Perth and NZ.

Thanks

Hi there, I'm new too and are in a similar boat! I will be following this with interest! The people on here are amazing and I find it all so interesting but mind-boggling, lol. I'm addicted to all the info and love learning but still are not sure where to 'start'. Hopefully someone out there can point us in the right direction ....

There isn't any real magic going on folks. Have a look here:

https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Earn/StatusCredits/index.htm

As your starting point and then go looking for flights which will likely suit the distance you need to travel to gain the status credits you need. As far as I am aware there is no tool for working distance versus cost versus SC's.

Its is true that occasionally someone will find a gem of a route that provides excess SC's for very little additional money ... but these are often transient as costs move almost daily and often such routes close again very quickly.

BNE-AKL via MEL in PE will do it, one way!

Gold secured until Oct 2016 Review :)
ADL > SIN > CPH return in Aug15
SQ Flexi Saver (W) $1700 @ 280sc = $6 per sc
Then add Family Pool with MissChipChip = 560sc all up!

**boggle**

Is that a typo or are you really good for 2 years? I only got 1 year Gold upon flipping over from Silver myself.

No typo, but already re-qualified this year for Gold until Oct 15 so the above trip next year will keep it going until Oct 16. Hope that makes sense!

Just a few domestic flights needed to get eligible flight count, but that is easy!

Hey guys so im 50SC short of gold, a family member just happen to book a trip BNE-SYD-CBR then CBR-MEL-BNE, which i believe is all "E" which will net me 45SC from pooling, now the question is will they be likley to comp me the 5 SC? Or can i upgrade one of her legs to bussiness with points? (im only silver atm?) or do a bid upgrade? does that net extra SC's?

Upgrades will not earn you extra SC's.

I probably wouldn't risk it. Some seem to get comped, but mine have just expired in the past, even when coming so close. Might need to throw in a return saver lite. Will get you to gold, and a little starter on re-qual.

I reached silver with 245 points, the 5 point margin was comped. I wasn't paying attention anyway since I had a whole heap of other upcoming flights, was quite surprised when I received the Silver Status email short off the points. If you don't have to meet any deadlines, wait 3-4 days until after all your points have been credited and see what happens. If you're still the 5 short, do a run.
