The view from my "office"

2nd last night of Indian trip- we are in Gwalior

Wow - that must be one of the more spectacular hill forts. To think I did Rajasthan Hill Forts and didn't get to this one (in Madhya Pradesh).

Are you going to do a TR (please)?

Battersea Power Station lift. I was lucky to go up just as the sun was setting - well I planned it that way

Are there shops in there now? Saw a billboard saying something about it.
yes lots and lots of restaurants in there too.

Also went to Granary Square and Coaldrop yard - no atmosphere and won't go back there in a hurry.

Not sure why the photos of Battersea didn't insert properly but don't have time to sort them out now. See you later

No just did a day trip there and didn’t know about that connection
I find Avebury, West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill to be much more atmospheric and interestng that Stonehenge - especially now that you can't get anywhere near the lintels at the Stonehenge Disney world. Ah, once apon a time, when we first went to Stonehenge one could walk around and kiss them! :) The museum at Avebury is also very interesting! Avebury is wonderful in the mist and snow of early winters.

Bit smoggy in Delhi, tried the new Mumbai to Delhi highway for a short time yesterday. Felt lonely at one stage! :) Air rating about 260 I think

I agree. I too got to first see Stonehenge in 1972, when you could wander around the stones.

I enjoy visiting Avebury, and walk around the area which has a lot of fasinating sites, and wander along part of The Ridgeway. Best thing is, you can sit outside the Red Lion for a pint, and wonder how the heck they did all of that with just people and digging by hand.

The whole balloon gate was blown (no pun) out of proportion. Should have just shot it down. The amount of fuss likely gave the Chinese CCP a bit of popcorn type entertainment.

The CIA tried spy balloons during the Cold War but they never worked well which was why the U2 was built.

A bit more of the history between U2 and Spy balloons

Having the equipment alive and working for a few hours would have given the US time to bounce a few signals around and see how it responded. Can't do that when it's smashed to pieces.

I saw the TV programme hosted by Penelope Keith they did on Avebury manor which I enjoyed. The museum was fascinating and I love how they keep learning things. Another photo of the pub and a decorated post box which looks a little odd 3AA7CB38-E1DA-4810-99ED-9B123BD05F67.jpegAD6929DB-1E93-440C-8006-DECAECB99BC2.jpeg19D1BAD9-E63E-4B1D-BCB7-30F70FFF8889.jpegA3E3881E-02B4-4707-B21D-82C5C33D6694.jpeg24FF8D29-7776-4E3A-A8F1-AB9DEDFC37E0.jpeg
