The view from my "office"

Unfortunately the holiday is over and I will be heading home tomorrow. One last closer photo from the “office” of the floating sculpture in Oslo.

Well, I’ll include the “Twister” from the “office” because it includes St Germaine, vodka and Champagne. Isn’t that a good enough reason?

I will be in a good mood tomorrow evening because my Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Singapore is in a B747. I selected upper deck. The team leaders are very jealous!

Made it to our hotel in Seattle, at Crowne Plaza downtown. After our stay at Crowne Plaza in Singapore I had certain expectations of the brand, but was fully let down when we got to our suite. But at least we got a nice viee from up on 17th floor.

Go up to Shuckers at the Fairmont for Oyster Happy Hour! 10 different types of Victoria Island and Puget Sound! Fabulous.

This CAVOK An-12 was parked on a taxiway behind the apron at SID, Cabo Verde. We were departing on a Vueling (Spanish LCC) A320 for a direct flight SID-BCN.

Apparently CAVOK (aside from the aeronautical weather related term) is a Ukrainian cargo operation with seven of these ‘Cub’ aircraft and they mainly operate around Africa at the moment.

As for the Vueling flight: we had a spare middle seat so that helped, but tight legroom, nothing offered inflight (including water) and no entertainment. But it was on time and no problems, so worked as advertised. The majority Spanish pax were quite ‘boisterous’ throughout the flight, probably because as a late afternoon departure many had been ‘refreshing’ themselves at the airport bar before boarding.

View from BCN office and a car park view at that:

For a trip from Barcelona up to Andorra for a couple of nights, I’d booked a small (Y sized I believe!) car from Alamo BCN, as I was travelling alone. On pick-up from agent at Terminal 2, I’d been upgraded to a full size car: the pictured Seat Leon. Nice. Agent didn’t know what fuel was in it so marked it as empty (it had 280Km range so was probably a quarter full…). On return to Terminal 1 for drop off, same guy (Andrew) was at the Alamo return point. Because I returned the car with half a tank of fuel he checked the car in and gave me an Alamo card for a free half tank of fuel which is apparently valid worldwide. How’s that for service?

Alamo BCN is an office you should use if ever that way!

Andorra was lovely. The drive up through a couple of French villages were quaintly scenes as expected. Then a couple of switch back roads wound up the Pyrenees.

You know you’re in a ski-field office when you see:

Point to note on driving from Barcelona to Andorra:
On the way up I went via that bit of France immediately to the east of Andorra. Lots of tunnels and toll roads which probably totalled EUR 40 for the one-way trip. On the way back to Barcelona I went out south from Andorra La Vella direct into Spain and didn’t pay a single toll. Both routes were scenic but the one via France maybe more so and it was probably 20 minutes quicker.

Soldeu, Andorra office.

Looking down the valley in the direction of the capital Andorra la Vella.

Lovely hiking in the hills around this area in summertime. The views from the highest golf course in Europe weren’t bad either. I work so that I can spend time in this kind of office!

The course is at 2,250m altitude so just pips Mount Kosciuszko.

Ah, memories of passing through there a month ago.

@Scarlett I hoped you were going to say you used Alamo BCN because of the write up I did of their service last year. I had the card still and it was an Andrew who sent us on our way in an Upgraded Lexus. I wrote at the time it was the best rental car service I have ever had and It has been challenged by Alamo LHR but I think BCN still in front.

I have 6 hours before my LH flight from CPH-FRA. Fortunately check in was immediately available and I was then directed to the SAS lounge. “Gold” is upstairs. Soup and salads, a small selection of nice wines plus beer and soft drinks. But I like this room downstairs with the most comfortable Danish design chairs! And the plaque at the entry:

That's great! We were in the OSL lounge day (not SAS) just a day before you, forgot to take pictures but it was a nice and comfortable place with tarmac views. Limited food options but enjoyed what they had
