The view from my "office"

Fascinating story about a house and contents being saved at the last minute. One of the big auction firms had spent 18 months cataloguing the contents and there was some stuff in trucks on their way to London for auction when the last minute reprieve came that they had enough money to buy the house and contents so they had to turn around and go back to Dumfries House. The then Prince Charles was instrumental in saving the place

The Chippendale bookcase alone has been estimated to be valued at over 25M pounds and the whole house was sold for 45 M pounds.

Beautiful interiors but you weren't allowed to take photos inside so some are from the web

The blue chairs are also Chippendale and also worth a small fortune

I'm on that later this year. (ex SYD). Any comments/reviews you can make on it will be appreciated, esp maybe arrival in BKK.

Y+ bulkhead seat was alright. Good leg room. Service from the AY crew (all seemed Asia based) we pretty sterile and not proactive. Bit of language barrier at time too.

BKK arrival was easy. Barely an immigration queue. A colleague was waiting for us (he arrive 20 minutes earlier) and has already paid for a taxi which was right outside the terminal. Any other details you need?

QF 296 office, BKK to SYD. I'm undecided about this lounge seat. I found it quite uncomfortable for take-off and landing. However, once in lounge mode it's incredibly comfortable. As a bed it's pretty good too. Nice and wide in the middle so as a side sleeper you have your knees bent. Also quite wide at the head. The bottom of the footwell is rather narrow though.

Edit: Also, eating in lounge mode isn't comfortable so changing out of it is a bit of a faff.

Now for some reason, on these QF flights you get the QF mattress topper which is silly for this seat as it can't be hooked on to anything and just moves around. On the little video demo of the seat, it looks like AY have a different and more practical one.

Rally Portugal, hot, dusty, lot’s of alcohol, (not for us though), too many people and too much walking, for the first in my life, I’m starting to feel old!

Swedes, I know it’s a rash generalisation, but when presented with sun, they immediately strip off, and cheap alcohol, guys were drinking whisky on the way to the special stage this morning, 8am!
