The view from my "office"

Las Medulas, Spain, was the largest gold mine in Roman times.

This from Las Médulas - Wikipedia

“The massive scale of mining at Las Médulas and other Roman sites had considerable environmental impact. Ice core data taken from Greenland suggest that mineral air pollution peaked during the Roman period in Spain. Levels of atmospheric lead from this period were not reached again until the Industrial Revolution some 1,700 years later.“IMG_9953.jpegIMG_9951.jpegIMG_9950.jpegIMG_9948.jpegIMG_9937.jpegIMG_9942.jpeg

Are you following me? :p

I'll be back in TBS this afternoon, although hopefully only for 4 hours - getting the overnight train to EVN tonight all going well.
Haha I noticed that. We are here for 5 nights!
If you were staying, a catch up in one of
The wine bars would have been a certainty.
We have the culinary backstreets food tour today

Looks like we may just miss each other then, I'll be taking the 337 bus from the airport to the end of the line (Central Railway Station), unless you have any plans to be out near the railway station around 6.30pm this evening :) Assuming my plan works well, I'll have an hour or two to kill in the general vicinity prior to boarding.

I'm getting the overnight train back to Tbilisi, arriving Monday AM but looks like you'll have left by then.

The last few days were spent catching up with friends in Rotterdam. Today we visited Schiedam, an old town just West of Rotterdam. Not a tourist in sight we thought till an older couple asked us for the nearest supermarket. It worked out that they were also visitors from Australia, from Geelong, just like us!

At least one windmill in every photo!

we have also been very surprised as to how clean most of the areas have been over the last couple of weeks, here in northern Spain.
Last year, driving/train from Lisbon north to Spain and across the top through the Asturias, we were surprised how 3rd world'ish bits of Portugal were but you cross the boarder into a whole new world. Most of Spain is like that. I'm literally planning southern Spain (AGP to BCN) for the next adventure in the New Year.
