I keep asking myself - why do I stay here?

Nice hotel / great location - but the coldest most less than friendly feeing you I get here every time. Today I alighted taxi - am paying driver as bell boy grabs 2 huge / heavy bags from boot - I collect my jacket from back seat ant confront 2 bell boys standing the with my 2 huge bags - one asks "Do you need help with your luggage Sir?"

Like WTF - what do you think Sherlock? Of course I do - give me a ticket and bring to my room after I check in - D'uh!

Check-in - remember Dec 20 - not a westerner in town so hotel will be virtually empty - I am SPG SG = 'Upgrade to Club Floor?' - 'Sorry Sir only WP can get upgrade to Club Floor' - 'Is your hotel full or empty?' - 'Not so full Sir' - 'There - that is the reason I stay Hiltons or Marriotts in PVG - SPG never make me fell welcome' - 'Wait Sir - I can upgrade you to Club Floor because is not so full today' - OMG - OMG!

You are really spoiled for choice in PVG. From the SPG group I prefer the Westin on Bund.

Yes maybe I should have tried it - I was sitting with TheEmu on NKG 48hrs earlier and he was singing it's praises.

I had intended to stay at Waldorf Astoria but RMB2,150 + 15% took the gloss of that - Le Meridien RMB950 + 15% looked pretty fair deal. I am wed to no chain - value hunter - I can get Hua Ting for RMB600 all in - it was the Sheraton in years gone by - dated but still excellent value at that - but located a bit far from ground zero - c'est la vie!
