re: The view from my "office"

Correct. Interesting interior.
Indeed it is. Apparently was interesting designing the air conditioning as there is a very large mass of cooled air (hot air rises, cool air falls) pushing on the entry doors. They looked after me nicely with a nice suite on the top floor when I stayed there - though it was a fairly long and hot walk to/from our office.

Taxi or MRT?

Taxi or MRT?
Taxi from hotel to office was ok, but getting one back was sometimes a problem at 6pm, so I just walked. But about 45 min walk in the heat in business attire with laptop etc on my back was certainly draining. MRT not an option where the office is located. There may have been a bus but I had no idea of routes. I think I only did the walk twice though, and I had local office contacts arrange taxi for me other days.

But I do like that hotel. And as you say, its certainly interesting. But its a little in the middle of nowhere if you want to wander the streets and take in the sights and experiences of Singapore.

Mandarin Oriental Singapore is similar and IIRC the Sofitel MEL.

As is, or was, the common-as-muck Atrium Hotel on the Esplanade in Darwin! That's going back 20 years or so. Had nice live creepers hanging vertically down from the top balconies almost to the bottom.

A sunset picture for drron :)
It was taken with my phone so it's not brilliant but it was very pretty in real life.
