The view from my "office"

These guys also have a franchise. Note the ropes on the corners of sheets. When the police come down the street they quickly pull all the ropes together and make it into a sack and sit just out of sight or over near the wall then go back to trading as soon at the police are out of sight.

Hallstatt has been on my bucket list for some time. Any hints on places to stay or visit much appreciated. The mind map planning for next year is in full swing. I didn't think I'd be working much this year but having spent nearly three months on a contract away from home I think I deserve a nice holiday.

You certainly deserve a nice holiday!

We made a detour to Hallstatt only because our photographer son mentioned he wanted to visit here on his trip in September.

Like so many places in Tyrol or Bavaria, Hallstatt is a beautiful little town, but it seems to be overrun by tour groups. We only spent a few hours there, so I cannot give you any advice on places to stay. The main attraction seems to be the saltmine, which is quite expensive to visit. Nearby is Dachstein, with an ice cave and some other attractions. Again quite expensive.

Apart from the big tourist attractions there are lots of walking and cycling tracks.

Last night we stayed in Zell am See. We easily could have stayed a few days there, just walking around.

Trains are a good way to get around. Check on oebb.at

View from the bosses office when she got from from Vancouver and before she started cleaning. I should not have allowed her 20 hours off as I said in another post, as she did fly 'J' on JAL and said she got 7 hours sleep from Narita.
Normally have 6 of of the blighters whining for food. We mix shreded low fat cheese with the mince in the hope they do get some calcium. Note the dreaded hose, another splint for a few more weeks.

Poor lambs, both of you were away. I wonder if they came every day hoping you were home! Best put the hose away.....quickly.

Sorry for the coughpy photo, but he was accelerating quickly, he had turned into Unter den Linden at the same time as the other cars in the backgound.

This scene has changed a little bit since my first visit here in 1985. No Soviet soldiers standing to attention for hours on end.
