The view from my "office"

Bay was empty for maybe 45 to 60 minutes and then taken over by an EK A380. Was interesting to see the air-bridge was deployed to the upper deck with most departing before they even deployed the air-bridges to the lower deck.

Since when did you start measuring time in minutes and not glasses of wine ;):p.

That's the one!

Live, about 30 mins out of DOH bound for LHR on a QR A350. Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon...;):).

Shame about the Pommery though.... is that their new standard in J now? Not sure whether I'd consider that an upgrade or downgrade from the already not-so-great Lanson NV. Back on QR in a few weeks, so interesting to see what they're serving.

Agree that Pommery is not the best. That’s what they had aboard all my QR flights and in the lounge. The Rose was something different altogether but I don’t go for Rose Champagne and I can’t recall what it was.

Maybe my office today might only interest a couple (TV?) but was pretty spectacular and included a 360m or so elevator ride down into the earth at Port Moresby's primary hydro power generation facility.

First was the climb up into the mist shrouded peaks of the Owen Stanley Ranges until we reached the surface facility at Rouna 3.

And then further up to the underground Rouna 2 turbines.

Finally, a stop on the way home for fresh fruit (flowers for +1 if she was here ... she's not!)

Drappier, unless it's changed. I wonder if the Pommery is BA's influence on them ;)

Nice of you to say LTL!

I was actually really surprised by the number of "likes" to that post, but I actually feel very privileged to be able to visit Rouna. I have been there about 4 or 5 times since about 2013 and each time I love the visit. It's like walking into a living, working hydro history museum. The old through to the new. The old goes back into the mid '50's and the new is '08. Despite the gleaming new gear, the old stuff just takes me. The quality and the skill of the craftsmen from mid last century is so evident that these machines are still capable of operation today.

Last pics, I promise!

The old to counter the new of the previous post ...
