Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, but Den Haag is the seat of government.

Parliament used to sit in the Ridderzaal (Knight’s Hall), but that is now only used for formal occasions. A new parliament building has been built hidden away behind it.

Across the Hofvijver (Court Pond) we see old government buildings. The little tower with the crane seemingly growing out of it is the Prime Minister’s office

Just outside the old city area is the modern business district.

A bit of background for this view from my home office this morning.I am known for doing things differently.for example posting photos.I invented my method and according to the photography gurus on flyertalk my way can't possibly work yet it does.
One of the things I regularly do differently is my ways of catching fish but today was a brand new experience. We had a left over chicken carcass and as usual we do not waste meat.Into the crab pot it went last night. So this morning I pulled the pot in and here is my catch-the morning view.

Black spotted rock cod.supposedly called Poor man's lobster.

One of the most memorably trips around the Whitsundays for us ended up with a massive cod caught in a crab pot ... and cooked on an open fire at Sid Harbour!

Thanks for posting these Dubai pictures @kermatu, saves me the trouble! We returned home this morning after AMS-DXB-MEL with a 2 hr connection.

Do you think the poor visibility is due to dust/sand or is it pollution?
Dust. Sand. Heat.
