The view from my "office"

At this point I could post the pics of a python swallowing 1) a crocodile and 2) a deer (but not at the same time) but I fear a warning from mods re good taste.

C'mon RF, I'm always keen to expand my limited biological knowledge. Let's see 'em :).

For the record, - while most enjoyable at the time - the ramification of such rampant hedonism should certainly not be underestimated.
Let's just leave it that.

re: The view from my "office"

Just arrived at work after travelling for the last 30 mins south to Brisbande CBD with darkening skies and wind picking up. My car was hit by tree debris on Ann Street an luckily under cover now.

The view from my office doesn't look bad because I'm facing north, but the weather radar doesn't look good. Lots of wind pushing the rain ahead of it. Archerfield is being pummelled, so I'd expect delays coming to /going from BNE this morning.

At the Deanery for a Two Hands cellar door on the road tasting.

re: The view from my "office"

I was at Pemberton in lower SW WA again this week finishing the Botrytis disease control trials mentioned the week before last.

Grape harvest (of the whites) has been in full swing and it occurred to me that many people may not have seen a grape harvester and how these very clever machines work - especially as they operate in the middle of the night for the whites to get the grapes while they are cool.

For that reason, and because harvest finished a few days ago, I couldn't get a pic of the machine in action.

The self-propelled harvester straddles the row and the alternating rack of rails you can see in the 'tunnel' shake the berries off the bunches, to drop onto the plates below to be fed onto a conveyor, up an elevator and out over to a chaser bin being drawn by a tractor between adjacent rows. The berries are shaken off, leaving empty bunch stalks.

Never say you don't get an education on AFF :).

Thank you JohnM, I've never seen one before but now I have added knowledge and respect for the people who pick grapes in the middle of the night for me to consume

re: The view from my "office"

This was the view from my office this week - considerably better than last week!

My office at present is the VA lounge at Brisbane - an edifying experience. I was here some months ago and the sign said 'We're building a new/better (whatever) lounge'. On a Friday evening it's a zoo. And I foolishly tried their bubbly Think my old 'office' at CBR QP is calling. I'll never bag it again (actually I don't bag it as it's pretty good).

re: The view from my "office"

I think I did better with my office (VA BNE-CBR) than 2 work colleagues who needed to get back before me and went QF via SYD. Delays in SYD and now can't get out till tomorrow. I on the other hand am now home.
