The view from my "office"

Just returned from a trip to many of the National Parks as well - in Springdale we ate at the Spotted Dog Cafe - highly recommended. My trip report will be forthcoming - still need to collate 1000's of photos. If you're going on to Bryce Canyon - the accomodation and F&B will be a definite low-light - we are at the Cowboy Buffet and Steak House (really the only choice unless you are prepared to driver 15 miles) - expecting it to be a culinary low-light - we were pleasantly surprised.

So it's been a hectic couple of weeks and there will be a mini TR and lots more photos but I've ticked off a couple of bucket lists lately

Boat Harbour beach Tasmania where I'm staying for a few days - BLISS IMG_2445.jpg

Our blue tongue was spotted a couple of times today, no photos though. The boss had a staring competition through the window with a rather large fox in our garden this morning, around 05:45. We had noticed some unusual looking poo down the driveway of late, probably from the fox.

Boat Harbour is a beaut spot, wouldn't mind spending the summer there.

I just have to slum it in Launceston for summer. :D

When you did the Lake Eyre flight VPS did you land anywhere. We did it several years ago and landed at Oodnadatta and Williams Creek. At Williams creek we landed on the road and taxied up to the pub.Very enjoyable.

We landed in Leigh Creek to refuel, then one of the stations for lunch, Birdsville, Innamincka, the dig tree and then back to Hawker. I will do a TR because it was amazing

Oops.. forgot Flagstaff! Fun little town, home to Northern Arizona University, lots of people wearing jumpers/hats etc. for it. The historic Route 66 runs through it.

There was a well planned exercise trail around Buffalo Park, a 2 mile track with exercise stations all round. Quite busy (comparatively speaking) when we were there, even though it was 10am mid-week! It has great views of the mountains surrounding it including the San Francisco Peaks.

Next stop was the Sunset Volcano National Monument, some fun trails there too and cool to see the lava flow.

After Page it was onto Springdale and the Zion National Park. Pretty impressive and was great that the road wound around the rocks and cliff faces, even has a tunnel through the middle of one of the big rocks. We did a few hikes there, was interesting going to see the narrows..... only accessible via river. Don't be fooled by the warm weather outside, the water was COLD!

Shuttle busses can move you around the trails, when you leave the visitor centre there can be a bit of a queue but they roll through constantly so the wait wasn't that long. Once on the trails the busses are very regular so easy to use.

While it got up to 25 or so during the day, the morning's were a bit chilly. I did have to laugh.... shorts and t-shirt was my standard wear, regardless of temp or time of day (Grand Canyon was the same where it was only 2 degrees when we started!). Anyway, while waiting for the shuttle a couple asked Mrs Flashback and I if we were from Minnesota, ha! I said no, London (but of course Irish and Aussie originally), so they laughed - guess that made sense too ;)
