The view from my "office"

My office today was day 3 of our Rona Road Trip.

First stop, Hinze Dam.

View from the visitor centre from the west of the dam wall.

You’re free to walk across. So we did.

Looks much the same from the east.:D

One for the engineers and mega-structure enthusiasts:;)

Then it was off to Purling Brook Falls.

I imagine it would be spectacular after a good drop of rain.

From top to bottom, 106 metres.

You can hike to the bottom where there is a viewing platform and picnic area. It’s a two hour round-trip over tough terrain.

As readers of my trip reports will have guessed, Mrs H used her “dodgy knee veto” to kill off my hiking ambitions.:(

I was just about to ask how is Mrs H's knee - you know you could have gone down by yourself and she could have waited in a bar 🤦‍♀️

The Rona Road trip continues through Springbrook National Park.

The waterfall at Natural Bridge was flowing faster than Purling Brook.

The water has eroded a hole in the rock and falls through to a cave below - creating the Natural Bridge.

There’s also glow worms in the cave but they can’t be seen during daylight hours.

While in the cave we did see a few small bats.

We had lunch at a nearby picnic area where were were joined by another couple.

A Rose by any other name is still a Rosé.
They don't put it in the Rose section but closer to the Pinot Noir. But it is a wonderful glass. I used to imbibe at the upmarket Feathers at Burnside but they ran out a few months ago and so was surprised to see it is available at Henley Beach in a much less glamorous setting but the view to die for. And about $4 a glass cheaper. Happy camper.

With the Queensland borders now open to all states except Victoria and school holidays continuing for some, I though finding a place to park at the beach would be difficult.

Turns out there was heaps of space at Main Beach and you could park anywhere:

Forecast seems to be pretty accurate for us so far (Port Macquarie)-like the rest of NSW coast from about Port Macquarie & down. Currently 11.8c but feels like 5.4c with 33km/h westerlies. Spotted whales from the balcony the other day but not even a clear line of the ocean today
