What a difference 24 hours makes.

This was Cecil Peak “before”:



A cold night with around 5cm of snow and we woke to this on our second last morning:



It turned out to be a warm sunny day and so 24 hours later as we were leaving it was back to this:

Staying in an apartment gives us the chance to avoid eating every meal in a restaurant and enjoy some simple home cooking.

Final day on the mountain and we were lucky enough to have 5cm of fresh snow.

Above the cloud, we were in heaven:

There were very few people around.

For those who know Coronet, the pic below is Upper Greengates (left) and Upper Walkabout (right).

Not another skier to be seen.



It meant we were still carving fresh tracks in some off piste areas well into the afternoon.



The overnight snow was accompanied by wind, leaving the exposed tussock grass looking like frozen coral.

This afternoon we boarded our floating office for the next two weeks, Scenic Jewel, travelling from Amsterdam to Budapest. This is not the trip we booked, but that is a story for the TR I intend writing later.
