The view from my "office"

Flying into Vancouver at 6:30am, I was captivated by the mountain peaks poking through the clouds.

Then I went for a walk while waiting for my room to become ready. This is not the sort of “office” I like. Far too big! (I’ll be boarding Silver Muse on Friday.)

But there are definitely some attractions on the water by the port.

At 9:30am I was able to go to my “office” for the next two days. The Fairmont Waterfront at Canada Place. I was given an upgrade to a full harbour view king room. Not a car park in sight! However the harbour view isn’t all ferries, float planes and helicopters. The container dock opposite is almost as good as a car park. Plus my very large visitor.

Wow Vancouver and the Pacific North west has cleared up so much in the past two weeks!
I didn’t see much on arrival into YVR or SEA :(

Back on the golden triangle office this week…wishing to be further afield

I have done all the things I needed to do in the garden now. So new forms of exercise have to take over. Back to walking. Walked the section of the Coastal path near our house to one of our favourite restaurants Bocca then back via the Nicklin Way to home. The views.

I came across a plumed frogmouth being attacked by 2 per weed and several noisy miners. I went to its aid scaring them off. The frogmouth looked at me for a couple of minutes then flew back into it’s tree.

Good camouflage. It is in the centre of the photos.
This area was an Artillery range in WW2. The guns were on nearby Battery Hill.

A goanna that didn’t hang around.
The restaurant is in a new subdivision. Good facilities for residents. Nice picnic area.

And a lake. You can kayak around to Currimundi Lake.

But a few people suffering due to a building firm collapse.

We are a few days behind you, we'll be there on the 9th.

So, our current offices.. Qatar ex-LHR to BKK and wow, BKK has changed since we were last here 4 years or so ago. Weed is legal. The general feel though... more commercialised, feels a bit more like what I remember Singapore to be.

The So Jennie non alcohol bubbles wasn't too bad actually. I just had to try the hot dog!

If you would like me to recommend a Tuk Tuk driver, an Aussie owned cafe or an American expat tour guide that has lived here for about 30 years, let me know.
"My" TT driver is so nice we would sit around at night when he finished work and share a beer (his shout). He even took me to meet his wife and 2 little kids, fed me and gave me beer. Top bloke.

That would be great for the first 2 👍🏻

How's the weather been? Very mild in BKK but am expecting hotter and more humid in Cambodia.

I'll message you in the morning.
It's the start of the wet season so expect a downpour for an hour or so in the afternoon. Today zero rain, I doubt I'll be so lucky tomorrow. Temperature 31/32 during the day, high 20's at night. Very humid.

Thank you. About what I expected, but a few degrees cooler - perfect. Have been to Myanmar and Laos at similar times of the year.

Interesting no tugs. Yes, I know they have bow-thrusters, stern-thrusters, glumph makers etc.. Just interesting.
I agree. There is usually one nearby just “because” as the ships have to pay for one anyway. Perhaps not at this port because it isn’t too windy? The bunker was there most of the day, and there was a tug keeping it in place the whole time.

There was also no tug at all as it departed just now.

Not something I expected to see in NZ! IMG_6592.jpegIMG_6593.jpegIMG_6581.jpegIMG_6583.jpeg

The emu was just up past Helensville, which for fans of The Brokenwood Mysteries, this old post office is the building that is meant to be the police station.
Expected the sheep, though.
