The Whisky Club discussion

Well I think I got stitched up ….

- Overeem Sherry Matured & Sherry Finished - pretty sure I skipped this in March this year so just ended up with it anyway…
- Glen Grant 13yr - from May 2023

So for me, nothing from the 10years archives, just repeats of what they already sent me (albeit slightly cheaper than usual).

This mystery deal has caused carnage on the whisky forums. Its been used as a Whisky Club dumping ground. At least the Overeem should be drinkable but a little light for me @ 47% ABV.

Anyway I wonder how many cancel their subscriptions after receiving a bottle of Paul John.

Still waiting for my delivery :(.

I liked the Paul John when it was released and bought a second bottle as an add-in. But keen to see what I will eventually receive, hopefully on Monday.

Nice. I just finished my Glen Morangie, and still have an unopened Bushmills. Would be satisfied with those.
I have an unopened glen morangie so can now share with a mate who loves it and still have a spare.
I have an open Bushmills which is great but the previous one was divine and I gifted my double up to my daughter a few years ago.
Sharing is caring !

Received my delivery today:

Glenmorangie Amontillado Sherry Cask (Feb 2023) - I was happy with the original $140 price, so good value for $125.
Elusive Expressions pack (April 2023) 4 x 200ml, includes:
  • Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release
  • Talisker 11 Year Old Special Release
  • Singleton of Glen Ord 15 Year Old Special Release
  • Cardhu 16 Year Old Special Release
I thought long and hard about this one when it was released, but just could not bring myself to spend the asking $295 for the pack. So very happy to receive ti now for $125.

I ended up with the Highland Park Cask Strength Release No.2, which I see originally sold for $205, and sells for closer to $300 on the internet. I didn't buy it at the time and am not sure what to make of it. Another to add to the collection.

This one is pretty good. It improved a few weeks after opening for me once through the neck and given a bit of air time.

Just having a sticky beak. But i joined about a year or two ago and only stayed for a month or two, bought a bushmills and highland which were nice

Whats the general consensus with the monthly bottles?
I see ads or their claims saying their bottles are selling for $2000

Normally its some obscure overseas auction they are quoting. Not hard to manipulate an auction outcome to suit their clever marketing agenda. You see a lot that have been suckered into thinking they are 'investments' on the whisky social media groups.

Are the other monthly ones fairly priced? Ive tried googling most of them but cant seem to find what out if im underpaying or over paying

The "whisky of the Month" is often a club-only special release only available through the club, so its hard to compare the price directly with other sources. However, they are usually a nice drop compared with what the same outlay would purchase from the major retail outlets.

I quite like the fact that the monthly drops are a little unique and I have not been disappointed with them.
